Do you keep your rn shoes in the car after a shift?

Published

I figured I'd ask. A few of my friends and I were chatting about this: Do you keep your nursing shoes in your car, bring them into your home, or clean them after a shift?

I've never done anything special with my shoes or clothes (25 years and counting), and no one's ever gotten sick or anything.

Me, too.

Although, I'm like traumaRUs and don't wear shoes in the house.

shoebox in my trunk...i put them on & take them off in the parking lot

I keep wet ones in my car anyway, so if there's something particularly disgusting, I'll give my shoes the once over. Although I must say there have been a couple of times that it took a clorox wipe before I felt like they were clean! I agree though, my regular, everyday shoes probably track in some crazy stuff, and don't even get me started on what my dogs bring in!

Nope I leave mine in the garage. I don't like shoes being worn in the house, but hubby always wears his, so I digress.

i've never done anything special with my shoes. however the dog has recently developed a shoe fetish, so now i'm hiding them in the closet as soon as i kick them off!

I throw mine in the utility room just before I go in the house to be on the safe side. I think I started doing this when my son started crawling and got into everything and I just couldn't bear the thought of my work shoes + his mouth. :barf01:

And it made the germophobe in me so happy, I just kept it up.

I keep mine in the garage as well, or in the back of my car if I remember a change of shoes :)

Mine never leave my work. I leave them in my locker and wear another pair home. Too many body fluids have touched those shoes, and even if I wipe them down with sanitizer, I don't feel right bringing them home.

This is all making me rethink how I treat my shoes. I dont wear shoes inside but now I think I should just leave them in the car. I would hate to track something in while my son plays on the floor.

I wear them home, and kick them off either by the front door, or in the garage. Not specifically because of anything other then I dont like to wear shoes around my house. If they are really nasty sometimes I will clean them off or wipe them down but nothing special. I believe all shoes carry in gross things, I mean men in Vegas spit all over the sidewalks, and alcohol or puke when wasted. I think I am safer with my work shoes then I am with my heels.

My nurse shoes stay in my locker at the hospital :).

No, I keep my shoes on. There's nothing 'too icky' on our floors, really. Maybe a vomit or something (cleaned up). I wear them before I go to work - but they do come off when I walk into the door because I am not a shoe person... really. Haha
