Do Hospital pursue broken nurse contracts?

Why don't you go and speak with the appropriate people in good faith? Who knows what they might be willing to do to help you honor this contract (which, if they haven't broken it on their end, you really should try to do). There's 6 months between now and then. Wouldn't it be nice if actually burning a bridge turned out to be unnecessary?

Mine did. Aggressively at that. Within a week of me leaving I had papers showing up stating what I owed.

did it end up showing up on your credit report or anything? People at my hospital who have left have had informal e mails like yours saying what they owed, and they never responded and years later they haven't said anything, just wondering thank you!

it was no informal email. it was a statement from the lending company who the hospital sold the loan to. It did end up on my report.

hey guys!
I am starting CRNA school August 2018, and I am in a nurse contract till October 2018. I have heard from people who have left my hospital that they have NOT been pursued or have had anything show up on their credit report for breaking contract, anyone have experience with hospital actually going after people who leave contract? all thoughts and experiences will be appreciated! Thanks!!! :)

Do not fall into the trap of thinking that just because others were not pursued for breaking a contract doesn't mean that you won't. You very well could be. And telling them "but you didn't go after X for breaking his contract!" won't get you off the hook either.

I agree with JKL33: talk to HR about this and see what you can do to honor the contract the best that you can.

Also, regardless of any money involved, if you leave prior to fulfilling the obligations of your contract, you're likely to be flagged as "do not rehire" and that will follow you going forward when potential employers check your employment background.

A program where the military provided a BSN education in return for a set period of military service with a two year service "payback" for leaving early, simply let people go for many years. Then, a change in how the policy was followed ensued and people who left early had to do their two year commitment. It became obvious that people were going all the way to the end, getting the BSN, then refusing to serve in return, so the military decided to mitigate the loss. A boon for those who got a free BSN education, whether or not they served as officers or two years enlisted. Either way they were getting a paycheck. So, yes, you never know when the institution will enforce their own policy. Best to be prepared for all possibilities.

Does it make any sense to ask / offer to come back and work for them as a CRNA after you graduate?

Or, I know CRNA programs prohibit or strongly discourage working, but is it at all feasible to put in your last two months working over breaks?

And sadly I am in Texas now and my school is in Florida, so I have no choice but to leave. I took yalls advice and scheduled a meeting with the HR lady in control of our contracts on March 1. I will let yall know how it goes. Any advice on what to say to her? Thanks!

That guy, when you left contract, did they give you payment options or did you have to pay it in full? Thanks!
