Do you guys see a lot of people saying they are nursing students....

or go to nursing school and than find out they are still in the Pre Req phase? I swear I have seen a good number of people do this, and than when I say, "Oh what semester are you in, I am in this semester" they are like, Oh well I am not actually in yet but I start pre reqs soon, or I just started pre reqs. I wonder why that is. Before I started the actual program I would say if asked that I was doing Pre Reqs to get into the nursing program. Or I am on the waitlist for the nursing program.

Wow... Yes, I am a pre- nursing student, all my generals are done, and I am waiting of letters. I read a couple pages of these, and can't understand why any of you care what people call themselves. It's petty, and while this discussion is really not that big of a deal, it shows the attitude that plages the profession. "those nurse are just clinic; they're basic med surg, they don't do hemonc; What does she know, she's never worked ICU." You put yourself above everyone, they don't have a right to call them selves nursing students. Grow up and worry about your selves

... some people are just so hyper-defensive they only see what they want to see.

Funny you would make such a remark considering that you have been coming back to this thread for months to defend your post. You appear to only see their remarks as an offense to your status as a no kidding nursing student. Maybe they don't see their remark as a lie, maybe they don't know better, maybe they want seem more important, and maybe, just maybe, they are saying it just to offend you!!! LOL

Their self-proclaimed status doesn't change the fact that you are a nursing student who is actually taking nursing classes/clinicals. Roll your eyes at them and move along!

If you read most of the of the thread you probably would understand it better. Most posts feel a bit "annoyed" by pre-nursing students saying that because as we all know it is incredibly hard and competitive to get into nursing school. Once you start nursing school (at least from my experience) it's like starting at a whole new school. So when you're there you almost are like a subsystem of your school because at my school you have the same classmates for the next two years, same professors rotated through lecture, clinicals, and labs, seperate grading scale different then the rest of your school, and a seperate handbook and policies. So there is a huge difference from being a part of all that and those that are not. No where did anyone say they are better then anyone else or all the otehr dramatic responses some have written and we are all pursuing a profession based on caring, but I will never ever feel bad about being proud of being where I am and all the hard work it took me to get here, and that yes it is a bit slightly annoying for someone to say they are here when they really aren't and yes there is a big difference from being a pre-nursing student and nursing student. Anyone that has written on here and is pre-nursing and get's inot their program will understand then, believe me. No I doubt it is not going to make or break anyones day and most of us are far to busy to even have time to care, but yes I am still not ashamed to say that it bothers me sometimes, sorry.

The post gets bumped and I read the replies, it's not a matter of coming back to anything. It's a thread I started, of course I am going to read the replies in it when it's bumped back up. There isn't anything I am taking offense to, what some of the posters are saying are very black and white. "You think you are better than others" That is pretty black and white, yet no one said they are better. So of course I am going to "defend" my post when statements keep being made about said post that were never said.

See the difference?

Just like I don't understand the comments saying "Why do you care what others say". Ummmmmm if you are going to scold me on being annoyed with what others say, than why do you care what I say? At least be consistent with the arguments and practice what you preach.

The last part is generally speaking, not to you specifically.

Exactly, the day I wrote this, the particular situation had happened again. For like the 5th time. As it has happened since. So that particular day I was annoyed and vented and wondered if it was something I just experienced or if it happens to others as well. (like how most vents go, people are looking to see if others know what they are talking about).

I came and vented on the General nursing discussion area because I felt like if anyone understood what I was talking about, it would be fellow nursing students. Those actually in nursing school.

Never had I imagined the post would have turned into such a big deal with so much twisting of peoples words and meanings and so dramatic and so on.

Omg people geez all mi vida loca was saying was that its not honest and if anyone sees this? Nothing petty about it. So people calm down.

Anywho. I'm pre nursing. I can't wait to get in

And for the person way earlier who said BSN programs are easier to get into is pretty mistaken. Here, BSN requires o chem as well as advanced critical thinking classes. The ADN programs here.just need the "big 3" micro, physio, and anatomy. So technically for some like me, in June I am qualified for ADN programs but I eventually want a masters so I'm doing the extra semester to qualify for BSN.programs.

And sadly that's exactly what they did.

context is key, too bad nobody sees it sometimes.

I'm a pre-nursing student. But....my acceptance (I hope!!!) letter should be coming any day now, and as soon as it does, I'll (hopefully!) get to change my status to nursing student!!!

I'm so excited I run to the mailbox every day! I can't wait to officially (once again, I hope!) join your ranks!!!:thankya:

I wanna graduate to nursing student!!!!!!!*

*Not that I don't like the pre nursing sections, but its almost always about schools. Blah.

These boards will give you such a good insight to what is to come too. I was pretty well prepared for what to expect when I actually started the program from reading these boards. (in fact school wasn't near as bad as what was portrayed here)

I used to post in the Pre Nursing section all the time and I have been waiting until I graduate to go and make a positive post in there for people to keep hope up since I would have gone from there to nursing school to graduating. I remember how easy it could be sometimes to start losing momentum. I have been working on this for so long that it almost seems surreal. Was on the waitlist for 3.5 years because that's how my school did it. So I had 1.5 years of Pre Reqs on a quarter system than was able to get on the waitlist, after that I moved to CO and did my Co-reqs while waiting. Now I am about to graduate in 43 days! I did the ADN first and than am enrolling right away into a RN-BSN

I noticed in your earlier post you said you wanted to go for your master's so I think the BSN might be a good idea. I wanted to do the same and thought my adn would be faster but actually one university by me was teh same time so i decided to do the bsn program instead. Good Luck!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!:heartbeat
