In a snowy climate, we're required to stay on campus if staff is unable to get in D/T bad weather etc. We were talking at work and none of us carry a change of clothes in case we need to stay, so we were wondering if we're the oddballs.

Do you keep a change of clothes in your car/ locker?

Ever since I took my first "blood bath" at work I have kept a full set of scrubs as spare at work. It has nothing to do with the weather, although when the weather gets rough-it's not uncommon for me to bring in an additional set and extra underwear and socks. I've been stuck at work before, and if I have my own stuff it's not too bad.

There are plenty of other things that I already have to carry :chuckle Luckily my hospital provides for instances where one may need to change scrubs and allows staff to use scrubs from or/ob in such situations. You do have to bring them back, of course!

Absolutely... again not for the weather, though... but the blood spalshes at dialysis... yep... gotta have exrta !!! ;)

I always have extra scrubs available at work cause I work in the OR. The hospital supplies our scrubs so I can use as many pairs as I need in a day :D

I voted no. I have one pair of pants, white denim. I have two scrub tops, one blue and one tropical but I hate scrub tops cause they ride up on your tush. :o So I wear those work-out tops that tuck into my pants and are covered by lab coats. I have two white lab coats and one navy blue lab coat. All kept at home, except of course my only pair of pants and the top I pick and the lab coat, which I wear.:D Naked nursing would not be good.

If I get spilled upon . . . I can go to the OR dressing room and grab a pair of green scrubs.

I'm only a mile from home so weather is not a big deal.

Not anymore. When I was working I did. Along with underwear, tooth brush etc. Also blanket, candles, FOOD, mountain dews, radio (tee hee). Been stuck in a storm more often than a southern girl should have to be. I've showed up for work when people who lived less than a mile away called in d/t weather.

No, but it's a good idea. We have a stash of scrubs in the nsg office and one never knows what size is available.

not necessary. we are provided scrubs at work......beats the heck out of wearing that garbage home, germs and all. if I get dirty, i go to the locker room and don a new pair of scrubs, tossing the others in the hospital laundry hopper. i change out of the nasty things before i leave for home.

i can't understand why all hospitals do not forbid scrubs worn from home to work and vice versa. good infection control practice.... sure saves me $$$ too!:)

anybody who's ever been pooped on at work wished they did. I once had to go around in a pair of old pants that were sitting in the back of my car waiting to be taken to "Sally Ann's".

Nope, I don't...but I did get pooped on once and that should have taught me a lesson! :D

I was turning a pt. on his side to do a sacral dressing and some gas (along with a lil' somethin' extra) shot out right onto the bottom of my jacket....eeeeeeew!! I took it right off and thre it into the garbage. The CNA that was in the room with me said 'You're throwing that OUT?' To which I replied 'Do you have a better idea?' It's not like I was going to bring it home and run it through my washer!!!! :uhoh21:

I'm in LTC, similar situation, I just used a Sharpie and marked my name and let them wash it. It got back to me the next day all sanitized and clean.
