I'm just curious. Do you...
call IN sick; or
call OUT sick
:[anb]:
We call IN (as in calling IN to the supervising RN); it used to be fine to call in and speak with a "licensed nurse" to report you'd not be in. So, of course LPNs could take "call-in's" but then policy changed to where it had to be an RN who took the call; never any reason given as I recall. I still find that odd since when one calls in, no reason has to be given, merely a statment of "I won't be in for my shift."

"Call in" sick.
Everyone at my hospital uses that phrase, too. I never heard "call off sick" until these forums. Maybe it's a regional thing?
