Direct care staff incentive bonus

Published

I'm just curious. Where I work all the direct care staff get a quarterly bonus. We are told that this bonus comes from the federal government and is to be disbursed as described above, meaning managers, MDS nurses, kitchen workers and the like do not receive the bonus. When I entered the time clock room yesterday, I see a new sign up explaining that nurses will no longer be receiving, as we do not provide direct care?!?! Anyone elses' facilities distribute these bonuses? I work in LTC by the way. Do nurses get the bonus? I don't mean to sound greedy, and I know all about the Medicare cuts, but I can't help but wonder whose pocket our bonuses are going into. The CNA bonuses are smaller than usual as well.

I have never heard of a bonus,be interested to hear what others get.

I don't get them and have never heard of the like either.

I get a yearly bonus. It. Comes from my employer NOT the government.

I get a quarterly bonus based on the hours worked on my pediatric case. I do home care for an agency. The reimbursment rate is higher for pediatric patients, coworkers who do adult cases do not get the bonuses.

Nurses do not provide direct care?

Nurses are the Direct Care providers...so are LPNs, CNAs.....Generally it is anyone one that works directly with the patient. In-direct care providers would be the clerk, manager, housekeeper.

never heard of this before now

NEVER got a bonus, or even a cheesy button from an LTC or hospital. One place gave out a turkey every Thanksgiving....

I'd want this promise in writing. Notarized. In blood.

Some places spread out SIGN-ON bonuses- but those aren't from the govt.

I work in LTC and the CNA's get a bonus if they are on time for work, if they cover their shift when they are not going to be there, and something else but I can't remember. The nurses do not get this bonus every month just the CNA's.

ANy chance you're told this comes from the govt so that the ones NOT getting the bonus don't complain to the facility? The govt does some stupid things with money- but I've never heard of anybody getting anything as a perk.
