Would always recommend latest edition so 3rd if doing PN and 4th if doing RN
I'm sorry to hear you didn't pass. I just saw that I too failed after my first try. I am so embarrassed don't even know how I'm going to tell my family. And I have no clue as to how to begin to prepare for round two. This is so depressing. If you find something that might help us please share. I'll keep looking for material too. I been reading about suzannes guide on these threads so I'm going to give that a try.
I also just found out today that I didn't pass my first time taking the nclex- rn.
I am very disappointed as is everyone else. I am confused and upset.
I didn't have any money so I didn't enroll in the kaplan course. I actually didn't try anything kaplan. I only studied saunders .. I did the entire 4th edition - front to back - and still failed so that must not be the book for me.
Any tips for the second time around? Should I take the kaplan course even though I have no money? Should I do the q-bank? I want to start preparing right away. I don't even know how to tell everyone that was hoping and praying for me. I am so embarrassed
Please help!!!!
Thanks everyone and good luck to everyone who's studying to retake it for a second time. Don't lose hope and keep praying!
Sorry to hear you didn't pass, I too failed on my first try and will be taking it again. I am going to try suzann's plan to help me study. I think I just need some structure in my studying and turning off the tv might help too. Just had a thought, no tv, maybe the kids grades will improve too:wink2:
sorry to hear that you didnt pass... i too have not yet passed after 3 attempts and know what it is like to feel embarrassed and worthless.... it is so hard to know that everyone else is working in their careers but you.... i have taken the ncelx 3 times and it still does not feel any easier to me.. i have taken the kaplan review course.. which i feel the tips to answer questions helped somewhat .. however, didnt work for me.. i am now working on completing the first step of suzannes plan and am hoping that this is my time to pass.... i am conifident that we will be nurses when the time is right. keep your head up no matter what happens and just keep moving forward. my heart and prayers go out to you!
Just curious. What is "Suzanne's Plan?"
She is one of the other moderators her and devised a program that has had excellant results. https://allnurses.com/forums/f197/07-08-revision-suzanne-s-first-tip-314448.html

Sorry to hear you didn't pass. I am happy to hear that you have already reschedule to take the test. I failed the the test I was so heart broken and disappointed that I never reschedule for a second time. It has been 11 years since I took the NCLEX-PN exam and failed. Now, for the very first time I am ready and anxious to take it for the second time. I will be taking a nine day refresher course , a three day preparing course, and Suzanne's study material along with SAuders Conprehesive Review. I am planning on taking my test in the middle of October. I can't wait. I am really excited about it now back then I thought everybody passed on their first time. Good Luky to you!!!!:wink2:
