Hello I am in need for support right now, i did not pass the Nclex the first time around , I am secheduled August 13 for round two. I have been studying Kaplan Q Bank and 2 chapters in Saunders daily. Has anyone taken this for the second time , what was it like . Was it easier , the same or what .Let me know
Hey Guys ,
Any advise on taking the Nclex twice, I am in need of support . I found out i did not pass after waiting for 1 month . I took a 197 questions the first time around. I had to forfeit my RN IP license in California , it was quite embarassing . Thank god for such understanding managers and nurses that I my job was put on hold. I was in the middle of my orientation.
I felt like i took it too soon and i lost concentration during the test i started to freak out.
the good thing is , I scheduled test date number two, although i feel a little more confident , i am reviewing the Saunders book and doing Kaplans Q Bank, I have completed the Q bank and will attempt to complete it the second time around .
I have heard taking the Nclex the second time around is easier , has anyone heard of this ? Please give me the support i need from fellow colleagues , i need the strength and the confidence to go back in there and take it . Any advice would be greatly appreciated

hello 1hotrn!!! i was wondering ... was your last qs easy or hard??? i stopped at 199 - im still waiting for the result. i dont know anybody who passed in between 75 - 265. everyone i know passed if they had 75 or 265, not in between. i hop eyou can let me know about yoru experience after the 1st one... did you feel that you did not pass??? thanks in advance and good luck with the 2nd time.
the number of questions do not determine whether u pass or fail. I know tons of people who recently took exam and stopped at 103, 150, 135, 210, and they all passed.
i took Kaplans and I was scoring in the high 50s and low 60s after completing the Q bank now I now score in the in high 70s and sometimes in the 80s but you know it's because its all recognition now and i am doing Kaplans. My last question i felt was ok i couldnt tell if it was easy or hard . but i am hoping to pass the second time around , i am crosiing my fingers and i faithfully study q bank questions at least 5 days a weeks i give myself a break on the weekends I do no studying since i have been studying since the dy i left the NCLEX ! it's crazy
i knew i failed the minute i left there i felt like i did , i know i was going up and down on the pass / fail line i kept going up and down you can feel it . but you know the test questions on the nclex is all analysis and application questions that is what the NCBSN book that is sent out in california states so if you did not pass , get the saunders or subscribe to Kaplans Qbank as all of their questions are analysis and application . You can set the Saunders CD to have all Analysis questions thats what i do

1hotrn, I have taken the NCLEX 2 times and both times I got 265. I am not a good test taker to begin with but after failing the first time, I decided not to procrastinate about studying (I did that a lot for the first test). Just set time aside each day to study content and quizzes. I used the Kaplan book ($30) and the NCSBN website that has an NCLEX online course. It was cheap, approx. $69 for 5 weeks. I really felt that the Kaplan strategy book helped me to answer questions better. Don't lose faith in yourself, you did get through nursing school! I know how upsetting it is to fail that test. I thought that the first test was harder than the second and looking back on it now, I think that is because I wasnt as prepared as I could of been and also the whole experience was new. Good luck and best wishes!
Thank you for your support, i am studying Kaplans and the Saunders book faithfully 5 days a week. i truly and honestly believe that I was not prepared for the test the first time around . I feel a little better . Other nurses who failed the first time around tell me it would be easier the second time around not just the questions are easier but because i have been there before and then my nerves wouldnt be so bad and the fact that i have seen the test and the environment . I studied and honed in the sections i failed , i am trying a new strategy and thats to slow down and read every question more than once and to reread the answers if i do not understand it , i have also prepared myself mentally to take all 265 questions if i have to , although i am crossing my fingers that i do not . i prepared to be there all 6 hours if it means i get my license in the end. I hope i pass the second time , this means alot to me and my family.

sorry to hear that you didnt pass... i too have not yet passed after 3 attempts and know what it is like to feel embarrassed and worthless.... it is so hard to know that everyone else is working in their careers but you.... i have taken the ncelx 3 times and it still does not feel any easier to me.. i have taken the kaplan review course.. which i feel the tips to answer questions helped somewhat .. however, didnt work for me.. i am now working on completing the first step of suzannes plan and am hoping that this is my time to pass.... i am conifident that we will be nurses when the time is right. keep your head up no matter what happens and just keep moving forward. my heart and prayers go out to you!
I passed the second time around , I got 75 questions and i will tell you read and reread the question ..I always had patient safety in the back of my mind ....also i did start suzannes plan but it just seem to slow for me ....
