Did you use Kaplan??

Published

Hi everyone! I have a few questions for anyone who has used Kaplan for the NCLEX-RN. I just finished the course and will be taking the exam next week. Do you think it is better to focus on the material in the course book, Q-bank, or the 7 question trainers? What do you think was most helpful for you?

Overall, how well did Kaplan prepare you for the nclex? Are the practice questions comparable to real nclex questions?

Also (if you don't mind saying) did you pass or fail using Kaplan?

Thank you!

How many questions does the Qbank have? Is it unlimited?

With the question trainer tests... should I wait until I start the Kaplan class on July 16 to do the tests? Or could I do them now? Does anyone have any idea which is best?

I was doing Susanne's plan but its kind of driving me nuts, lol. Theres just so much crap I don't know and I can't learn it all in a month.

Congrats!! Jill, you were one of those I was following with your posts, I am so happy to hear you passed! I am even more happy you say that the Kaplan questions are just like the NCLEX ones. I take mine tomorrow (Tuesday) and Kaplan is pretty much the only thing I studied! Previous posts show I wasn't doing so hot on the questions... I am getting nervous!!

Janina08- what is included in the lab and the kit?? I'm guessing the lab is the class, but what do you mean by kit? everything except for Q Bank? Also, are you taking the NCLEX on Aug 16th or your kaplan class starts then? For now I would focus on the course book and the online videos/lectures. Then after the class do the practice questions.

luv2shopp85- QBank has about 1500 questions, but you can reuse old quesions if you want (you choose: unused, incorrect, unused and incorrect, or all questions). I would suggest reading the course book now and watch the online videos/lectures and then after the class do the Question Trainers and QBank. After the class is over how long do you have until your test date? (P.S. Suzanne's plan didn't work for me either I switched over to kaplan and loved it!)

THE NCLEX WAS HORRIBLE!!!!!!!!!

I took 5 hours, was the last one in the room, and had 160 questions. NINE of them were select all that apply! Tons of priority, teaching... meds and diseases I've never heard of. I felt absolutely sick when I got into the 130's. I started rushing (maybe a bad idea) because I timed that I had less than 40 seconds per question if I had to do 265. Ughhhhhhhhhhhhh. I do NOT feel good about this test at ALL!

jason, you're not alone! remember that no one feels good about this test when it's over. also remember that 160 questions does not indicate you did poorly. as you wrote 89.1% pass 1st attempt! i bet that you passed ~ it'll just be a hard wait (hope you live in a quick results state). hang in there and keep us posted.

Did anyone use Hurst review. I heard that is was better than kaplan. Is that true? I am trying to decide should I do a review or not

Just took the NCLEX today...feel like crap about it. I did Kaplan, but I went waaaayyy past 75 before it shut me off. YUCK!!!

Hope it wasn't as bad as it felt!:o I just didn't want to have to do the whole 265! :)

HOLY CRAP EVERYONE! I PASSED!!!!!!!!!!! This was completely unexpected... I, like everyone on here, felt horrible after the test. What a relief!!!

I tell you guys what, I did Kaplan and had Q-bank... and both were very beneficial. Q-bank was verrrrrry similar to the Kaplan questions which made things a little easier while taking the test. I did very poorly on the last two question trainers, getting 52% and 56%. After that, I went to B&N and studied my butt off with a Mosby book, a Davis book, a 3000 bullets book, a nursing mnemonics one, and some other misc. ones I thought would help. I didn't do too hot with the book test questions since they weren't as similar to Kaplan/NCLEX. As you can see, I was definitely nervous taking the NCLEX with such poor scores.

This comes to show everyone that no matter how much you study, you will never feel great for it. And with me especially, I didn't do too hot with the tests and I still passed.

Thanks everyone for your support! I hope to keep in touch with everyone on this board, it's been awesome!

is kaplan a regionally accreditted school and what is the total cost to attend their rn to bsn program?

Congrats to all of u who took the Kaplan review and passed. I tooK the review 2nd and 3rd week of june and I am schedule to take the Nclex exam the week of the 22nd of July. I have read each and every one of your posting and honestly, I am very nervous about this exam. I have been doing the online review of content videos, the Qbank and I have done just test 1 of the trainer, I got 57% on that and I have thus postpone taking the other tests until I finish the review of content online. When doing the Qbank, I answer 50 new questions every time and I have being scoring in the 50s and I have got two 60s in my recent questions. I still have 3 weeks to go Please everyone, I need help what should I do to improve on my scores. I really want to make it the 1st try. I am only studing Kaplan, but i am studing the online review of content instead of the blue book since it's just the same content in the book. Please guys i need your support and advice, because I might have a nervous breakdown. Helppppppp!
