For me it was a life altering event. I am sure it is different for everyone. I went back to school after 33 years and just completed my first year of nursing, I have been going to school since 2008. I have one year left for my RN. So depending on your circumstance, it was a huge event for me. I have entered into the world of nursing and the bottom line is our patients, I love it!!! Learning, compassion and change and adapt.
I was super excited because I waited so long, but it didn't feel like a big deal to me, even graduating didn't feel like a big deal. Other people made more of a fuss then I did. Getting licensed seemed surreal. Even now I don't feel like a Nurse. I think once I start working and I am the one in charge and when I say "let me go ask your nurse" and I am like Ummmmm oh wait. That's me. LOL It will all finally hit me and feel a lot more real. Going on the interview and the resume and all that was different and made me feel more like a professional. It's very different then when I wen to apply for jobs many moons ago.
It was a life altering event for me. I am an LVN and bridged to an RN program. People think the schooling is the same but, it was different for me. I made new friends and am learning new skills. I gained weight in RN school whereas I lost weight in LVN school. One thing which was common was that I don't have a social life. It's okay because, it will all pay off in the end!

When you got into nursing school, did it seem like a life altering event that actually made you feel like a professional and not just a student anymore?
