I'm getting anywhere from 50-60 on most tests (sometimes higher) with Kaplan but mid to upper 80s or better on Saunders and Lippincott. Kaplan says you have to get over 65 with them to be ready to test, but I'm wondering if anyone was in my shoes and still passed the nclex anyway??
Is Kaplan unrealistically hard (compared to real nclex questions) or am I just not ready yet?

I am also wondering which test are most representative of the real deal. Also, what percentage means I am really ready to take the NCLEX.
If any of you have already taken the test and remember what you were getting on the practice test (and which ones you were taking), please let us know how you did.
THANKS!

You are reading my mind. I took Kaplan's diagnostic and got a passing although it was just above borderline, and got higher into passing with the readiness. I thought the diagnostic was easier, but I find that I only use Kaplan's strategies on a very few questions. From what I heard Kapan's tests are harder and supposedly tests 5-6-7 are the better indicators. I did worse (55 avg) on the first 4 and better (61 avg) on 5-6-7...go figure!
I take my nclex on wed and I will definitely follow up but I have to say that I have come to terms with the fact that these scores are only a guideline:idea: . I find that I missed a word or clue that would have helped if I had read the question more slowly so I think the ability to get yourself in the zone is just as important as any score!
Keep praying...

I'm wondering also. I took the first 5 practice exams on the Kaplan question trainer. First time I took test 1, I got 63 percent. Then I took test 2, got a 64 percent. Took test three, got 62. test 4, in the 50's. Test 5, I got 65. Then I went back and took tests 1 and 2. Second time for test 1, I got 79, second time I did test 2, i got in the 80's. Hope with those scores, I'll be able to pass on the real thing this coming saturday.
Oh, I'm definitely praying :) At least I'm not alone in these funky grades. If I'd had grades like this in nursing school, I wouldn't BE here!!
hica19, I didn't know you could go back and re-take Question Trainer tests. I haven't taken any of those yet (just Q-bank) because I wanted to "save" them until I felt I had more of a clue, lol....but if I can re-take them, that's good to know. See if I learned from my mistakes :)
I found that on the Q-bank questions, when I later on re-took the ones that I did wrong, even if I didn't remember the question (a better judge of what I actually did learn) I could get them right.
Yeesh.
By the way, you are planning to take the last few tests, right?
My qbank expired in April. Didn't feel like paying another 300 dollers to renew it, so I'm concentrating on question trainer, Lippincott, and Saunders. I don't know if I'm going to take the last two Kaplan question trainer tests. They are 200 and 265 questions. I don't know if I have the endurance to sit through that many questions in one sitting. Those tests pretty much only give you one minute per question, and you cannot pause the test and go back to it later.

I got about 60-70's on my Kaplan tests, I took boards and passed. Don't be worried. Kaplan's questions are very similar to boards. I hope this helps.

I got on low 70 and the rest in the 60s on Kaplan. I think I did 4 trainer tests and the ones they give you in the class. I did about 200 qbank trainer questions. I did most of the Saunders CD and got 70s to mostly 80s on the Saunders. I passed.
I think the Kaplan was a good practice run for the test. The Saunders was better for me in reviewing content by reading all the rationales as I did each question. I don't think I would have gotten as good of a content review if I had only been using Kaplan doing questions and reading rationales. I also believed it was more important to have content down in order to be prepared to even answer a question using critical thinking. That is why I focused on doing Saunders questions for review and Kaplan was on the side just to test my test taking skills and work my critical thinking. One thing I did notice is my Kap scores went up after doing Saunders for a few weeks...
Hope this helps :)

I was making between 62 -74 on the Kaplan tests and passed Nclex on first try. So, don't bother yourself if you are making 60s. Just remember to take tests 5,6 and 7 if you can and read all the rationales. My Kaplan instructor told us to ensure we make at least scores from 60-65 and you're pretty much ready to take the Nclex. Some of my friends were making 50-60s on kaplan and still passed with 75 questions. It's harder than Nclex but if you learn how to walk your way and arrive at the answer with kaplan, the Nclex would be like a joke to you. Goodluck y'all!!

Hebrews 13:5 I sure hope your right I'm scheduled to take NCLEX-RN on July 7th and I have been making between 61-72 on kaplan and I feel like some of the questions are very hard. I'm praying that I'm doing well enough to the real thing.

I have Kaplan but did not bother buying Q-bank. Now, with tests 3-7 left and only 2 weeks, I am considering Q-bank just for more practice. What do you guys think? Did it help or is it better to focus on the coursebook content and tests 1-7?
