Did anyone get 60s on Kaplan tests and still pass??

Published

I'm getting anywhere from 50-60 on most tests (sometimes higher) with Kaplan but mid to upper 80s or better on Saunders and Lippincott. Kaplan says you have to get over 65 with them to be ready to test, but I'm wondering if anyone was in my shoes and still passed the nclex anyway??

Is Kaplan unrealistically hard (compared to real nclex questions) or am I just not ready yet?

I really liked the Q bank, although you may see some repeats there are not alot. What I really liked is that you can pick your topic, the number of questions, a mode that offers instant rationales and there is an option to test only the questions you answered wrong.

Definitely worth the money

I have Kaplan but did not bother buying Q-bank. Now, with tests 3-7 left and only 2 weeks, I am considering Q-bank just for more practice. What do you guys think? Did it help or is it better to focus on the coursebook content and tests 1-7?

The Q bank is good to practice with but if you didn't get it up until now, pls save your money. The question trainer is what you need at this point and it would be much better to focus on and finish at this time than Qbank. The truth is that you may only end up doing like 300-400 questions before your test. I wouldn't go for it now. Focus more on your coursebook and try and complete the question trainer and do all the rationales of ones missed and the correct ones especially tests 5-7. hope this helps..goodluck

Hebrews 13:5 I sure hope your right I'm scheduled to take NCLEX-RN on July 7th and I have been making between 61-72 on kaplan and I feel like some of the questions are very hard. I'm praying that I'm doing well enough to the real thing.

I bet you'll do great on Nclex! Goodluck!

My average for the online Q bank was 62. I got 75 questions on the actual NCLEX and passed. Keep at it, Kaplan must be doing something right.

Thank you, thank you for posting that! I swear, I'm so all over the place on scoring...one quiz is a 50, the next a 68. A 73 and a 54 in the same hour. Obviously it's luck of the draw on the questions, but maybe I'll still be ok :)

I have a few more weeks to plug away at questions; at this point I'm doing mostly Saunders for content, then taking a Kaplan Q-bank quiz each day. Hanging tough!

I'm also in the same boat. I have both the Kaplan and Saunders review books with CDs. I've been getting around 60% on the Kaplan tests and 70-80% on the Saunders. I'm scheduled to take the NCLEX July 18th.

It looks like I'm in good company :)

I took a Kaplan Qbank quiz today and got 68, so I did a happy dance! Sad, isn't it?? I took Saunders quizzes, also today, and ranged from 70-90. I guess I had a good day :D

By the way, we're testing the same week :)

I did the Kaplan review... Did about 3/4 of the Qbank, and 6 of the 7 Question Trainer Tests. I never even got as high as a 65% on one of the Question Trainers (which is what Kaplan said you should get)... and on the Qbank, I did a little better, averaging about a 70% overall. And I passed the NCLEX on my first try, with 75 questions. So don't be discouraged!

Follow the Qbank link... and go to NCLEX-RN Sample Tests.. and Sample Test #3 contains 30 questions about priority/delegation type questions... I found these to be the most helpful, as these were the types of questions that I mainly saw on the real NCLEX.

Hope this helps!

I did the Question trainer 1-4 and scored 53%, 51%, 49%. I realized that I was not getting better and so I switched and answered all the QBANK questions (ALL 1000 plus questions) then I took Question tRAINER 5 and 6. I got 60% and 61.33% respectively.. I felt much better since I noticed that there was a significant increase in the scoring... I then watched the Content Videos and took the Question Trainer 7, I got 65.53%!!!!! wohoo!! Now, Kaplan says "Score at or above 65%? You are ready to take the NCLEX-RN exam! .... take your test with confidence."
