  1. Thank you everyone for replying. I will be doing regularly scheduled visits 5-6 pts per day on the points system. Re-visits count as one and new admits as 2. It sounds like the greatest nursing job ever, except for the paperwork. But I'm up for the challenge and for the change. I'm really looking forward to taking care of each person as a whole and helping them through the healing process. I know that pts are being sent home now that are still acutely ill compared to 5-10 years ago and I will have a lot to learn. I must say if a wound vac crawled over my foot and waved, I wouldn't know what it was either but I can't wait to find out. It's going to be a huge learning curve and I'm sure I'll have many question. I just hope HH is for me.
  2. I'm currently waiting to hear from HR as to when I can start new HH position and I am soooo excited!!! :yelclap: But I didn't think to ask what skills I would be using. I know I will get to do a lot of teaching and lab draws and maybe some in & out caths or foleys along with wound care, but what other skills /procedures do you guys use often. I hope that's not a silly question but I don't want to forget my med/surg skills. Any examples are greatly appreciated and thanks in advance.
  3. RN/WRITER that was an awesome reply, very inspirational!! I completely agree:)
  4. In the western part of NC and the piedmont area GN base pay is between $18.50 - $19.75. Cost of living varies greatly throughout the state.
  5. I graduated form nursing school May 2006, my first job was on a medical floor with overflow of mother/baby and pediatrics working 7p-7a. Well needless to say nights are not for me. Started have terrible problems with anxiety(panic attacks and everything) Wanted to move to 7a-7p but unfortunately there were no openings available. So I went to a LTC facility which I have been at for 7 months now. Hoping and waiting for a position to come open on the surgical floor at local hosp. I am finally comfortable at my current job (still have some residual anxiety though) and a position has been offered to me on the medical unit at local hosp. Not surgical like I had hoped, but close enough. My question is I'm not sure how the transition will be going from LTC to medical unit. My current resident load is 30 working 3p-11p. I do all med, treatments, orders, admissions...everything. I love my residents and their families but I miss using my skills. Haven't even started a foley in 7 months. Needless to say I am scared to death to go back to hosp environment:uhoh3:, but hosp ratio is 6:1. Any comments or suggestions are welcome. If anyone has made this transition from LTC to hosp your experience is greatly welcomed. Thanks for reading sorry soooo long but it's been a tough year
  6. :balloons: :balloons: congratulations!!!!:balloons: :balloons:
  7. I know it's hard, I went through the same thing this past weekend. Found out on Sunday I passed. Save those tears and when you find out you passed you'll have a huge HAPPY cry. :nuke: Try saoking it a hot bath with a glass of your favorite drink or watch a funny movie. Big Momma's House 2 is Hilarious I laughed the entire movie:lol2: . Good luck and I'll be praying for you:icon_hug:
  8. I bet you did great! Try not to worry too much abou the number of question you had to answer, it truely means nothings. Several people in my class passed with strange #'s. Two passed with 265, others passed with 92, 97, 101, and 175 so just try to relax and have faith it's finally over;) .
  9. congratulations!!!!! rn:balloons: :balloons: :balloons: i'n mot sure about fl, but in nc i found out on pearson vue that i had passed before it was posted on ncbon website. took test on friday 7/7/06, pearson vue posted on sunday, and was finally listed on ncbon today(wednesday). each state updates on different days it should tell on flbon website.
  10. Just try to stay calm and relax today. I didn't study at all the day before I figured what was the chances that I might see something on boards that I studied that day anyway..the night before I went for a great swim which realy helped me to relax and get rid of some nervous energy. I actually slept the best the night before NCLEX than I had in weeks. Be sure and eat something for breakfast and when you get to the testing center just take a deep breathe and tell yourself that you know all the answers and that you will pass because you passed nursing school and you have seen this stuff before. When I got a question I was unsure about I would just push my chair back, close my eyes, and take a few deep breaths until I felt relaxed again. This really helped me to refocus . Just take your time and I'm sure you'll be fine. Best wishes and I'll be praying for you!
  11. congratulations to both of you!!!!!!! now you can go out and celebrate :cheers:
  12. Sorry if it seemed like I left you all hanging, but I PASSED!! I'm so excited! I found out Sunday July 9th and I posted a new thread to let everyone know. Thank you to everyone on this board for the wonderful words of encouragement and best wishes to those of you who are still waiting to find out your results and waiting to test.
  13. I may have replied to your post on the NCLEX forum but i'm not sure may have been someone elses post. ANYWAY..... I did the ATI review course while in school. We had access to every test and had to take 3 proctored exams. I loved it for the review of content based questions, and it also helped improve my test taking skills. My last proctored exam I made a 78(I think) and it said I had a 99.9% of passing NCLEX. I took NCLEX 7/7/06 and I passed. However, I also used Saunders and the 7 Kaplan trainer test. For me, Kaplan was the biggest help of all because it is really similiar to the NCLEX format. I hope this helps, if you have any other questions just ask.. GOOD LUCK ON YOUR BOARDS!! MS, R.N
  14. :balloons::balloons:congratulations!!:balloons::balloons:
  15. YEAH!!!!! Congrats:balloons::balloons::balloons::balloons::balloons::balloons::balloons: I just knew you had passed.. That has to be the most wonderful feeling in the world. I'm still waiting and hope to say the same tomorrow
