Did anyone get green card after July 2nd?

Any interview done?:o Anywhere?

Any one knows?

Just rang NVC and the msg has changed to:

completed case forwarded to London embassy July 17th 2007:monkeydance::monkeydance:

Please god let there be a visa ready and we get interviewed ASAP.

Definitely keep me posted. I suspect that they may be going back to which country the nurse was born in, that may now be starting to come into effect with this.

Will just have to watch the next few days, but if we see more cancellations of interviews, blame the attorneys. At least the ones that were arguing over what immigration did after they looked bad in their clients's eyes, and now it is turning to bite them again on the backside.:angryfire

The recapped visas for this fiscal year have already been used. That is what was used for the July interviews and where the green cards came from for those that were under the AOS process. There are no more recapped visas to be had. Next new visas do not become available until next fiscal year which is October.

If you asked me before yesterday, I would have told you that there was a visa number for all of those that have appts scheduled for August, but now with this unexpected more by immigration yesterday, not so sure anymore. Something has to give. They cannot use up all of the recapped visas and yet accept petitions right now for the I-485.

And do I like it? No. Do I think that it should have happened at this point in time? No. Interviews were already made with some that have been waiting a significant time for this date, and now because some attorneys whined and complained, they opened things up but at the expense of those that have been waiting the longest. And do I think that it is fair? Of course not. But I do not get paid for each petition that I submit. The attorneys in many cases could care less when someone finally gets approval, their work has been done and they have been paid.

For those that were protesting about USCIS not accepting their petitions on July 2nd, what about those that are now going to get their interviews cancelled, and we are already hearing of some. Perhaps some of you should protest louder. You deserve to.

It really does seem unfair for those who have been patiently waiting for 1-2 years already and esp. to those doing consular processing just to accommodate applicants who wants to file for AOS.

Why would they cancel scheduled interview dates ?? These are appointment dates that has been given even before any of those applicants has filed for AOS and now even people who have not even filed for AOS has the chance to file it 'till the middle of Aug. and most of them will be getting EADs while those waiting for consular processing for 1-2 years already are cut off ? This is really unfair, indeed.

What also upsets me is seeing posts on here of people enquiring on how to do AOS. Even though we explain that it is illegal and also not acceptable at the moment due to no visas people are still asking or doing it. With recent events I think it will just make it harder for the ones going through CP :(

So what do we do now? No crying (had enough of that for the past 2 yrs), No getting mad/angry (because we have no right to be--it was our choice to immigrate legally via CP)..so...? Somehow, I still want to be hopeful.....

What about the medical result? Is it valied for 6 months or 1 year?

Our medical done on 1st week of July.

Is there is any chance to open the visa in Oct '07.

I just tried looking on the US embassy site for the UK and can't see anything to indicate how long valid but thought I had seen something that says 6 months but not 100% sure

I can't see that we do anything but patiently wait

quote from a us lawmaker:

“the department’s unprecedented decision to reject adjustment of status applications has caused needless hardship and disruption to countless immigrants,” noted rep. zoe lofgren. “it has also come to my attention that uscis began returning visa numbers to the state department as early as thursday, july 5, 2007, due to their inability to review applications effectively. the department of homeland security has once again demonstrated its inability to complete even its core missions. this debacle demonstrates the need for more transparency and oversight of the department’s operations and procedures.”

There are many advantages of persons under a different visa who are currently in the US. To start with, They are "IN" US already, they can work, have EAD's start a new life even without a GC "YET". But if you undergo CP, the waiting is endless. We are here waiting with little compensation from our work that somehow we knew that we could have done better if we had a choice. but we don't. I don't think its fair. I can see PD's Aug.2005 under CP still no GC and we see PD's like Sept.2006 under AOS who have EAD's who recently got their GC's. Is that fair??? But can we do something? NO, because were like that tiny object against a big planet.

Also want to add that people STILL in their home countries will not benefit from these piece of good news. This window of opportunity are for those who are already in the US on a diff. visa, particularly to those well-deserving people on H1B visas who are already working in the US for years. It is not always about nurses after all. These are people in the IT sector who are on H1Bs who are already working in the US for years and are very well deserving to do AOS until visa numbers lasts.

These current 're-reversal' to accommodate filing of AOS are not for new applicants as it is almost physically impossible to do the paper works in less than a month's time. Like I said, these are for those who are already in the US and are already in working visas such as the IT workers and those who have pending I-140s, approved I-140s, and pending AOS cases. Some applicants on tourist visas who are in the US already for months also stands a good a chance but definitely not people still in their home countries and who just arrived in the US in less than 60-90 days time.
