Students provide their own to use, but I also have back-up glucometer with test strips and extra lancets (lancets are also great to get splinters out!), urine ketone kit, and glucose tabs.
I rarely use the glucometer (it is a very basic non-fancy one) but it is handy if needed. All told, these supplies cost less than $50 to restock. And I usually only have to restock the glucose tabs yearly and the other stuff usually every other year. The glucometer has been around for 5 years strong :).

In high school my "self-carriers" sometimes forget so I do what Jen does. Better to have and not use, right?
All students must bring their own diabetic supplies. I do have an extra glucometer, strips & lancets that I keep in my emergency go bag, I had purchased them with my extra budget money - they are rarely used. I don't have glucose tabs - I use juice boxes that the cafe mgr gave me - I keep a couple of boxes in the emergency go bag.
I only have 2 diabetic patients and both of their parents provided a little bag of back-ups for them along with some extra insulin in my fridge. I do keep glucose tabs with my regular meds though we've never used them. We only had one instance of low BG and vomiting and the student/parents (over the phone) opted for sugar packets.
I have nothing of my own either (and I had a diabetic son). The students provide their own. Some keep stuff in my office though we've finally got inroads (a battle I fought for year) to allow self carriers. I recommend that the parents keep an older meter and some additional supplies in the clinic even if the students are going to carry.

Do you only have the childrens' personal glucometers, or does your school have one that you can use if needed.
Also, lancets and ketone testing strips....do you have only the child's personal, or does the school keep extra on hand?
