Dcccd 2006

Anybody thinking about El Centro/ Northlake in the DCCCD for Jan 2006?

Well, I am going the RN-BSN (hopefully) route. Eventually, I want to be a CRNA, but I need to get my BSN first. I typed out all the classes I needed and was wondering if you knew - since you said you want to attend UTA for your BSN - if for the Fine Arts elective do they take foreign languages?

Just wondering, I still have a while to go.:)

If I don't get in, then I will continue to take the RN-BSN core classes. I guess if I don't get in for Spring '06, nor Fall '06, then I may try to just go for my BSN. I'd definitely work while completeing the next few BSN core classes. I'm holding out until I hear whether or not I'm accepted. (So, I may be looking for a job come 2 weeks from now!)

Good luck with your decision, but I'm sure you'll get in though! :)

I'm not sure, great question!! I have 3 semesters, sadly all B's though. I know they said that UPPER LEVEL foreign language would work for the Upper Level electives, but not the CC's foreign language classes. (Those are lower level.)

I have class tomorrow, but I'll try to remember to call UTA tomorrow afternoon, if you haven't called by then. lol

That would save me some money, if they would. I could drop the music appreciation class that starts on 10-21!

10 DAYS NOW! :)

I know for EC/NL you have to have Speech 1301, does that count towards the "Computer Science" class - that says you can take Soph Lit, Speech, or Tech writing?

I believe so. On the equivalency sheet, it doesn't give exact numbers, nor does it say any specific level.

That doesn't make sense. How can you be determined (hopefully that's what it was) enough to make a 4.0 on your pre-reqs & make a 2.64 on your support classes??????

I would retake Algebra if I have to, and I'm going to take Music Appreciation starting October 21st, just in case. If I don't need it to replace my B in American Lit to have a 4.0 (hopefully) on my 17 credits of support classes, then it will go towards my humanities credit for my future RN-BSN.

I am planning on doing the RN-MSN at TWU after I am a RN for a couple of years. I have just been taking classes toward that as well. Who do you have for Music App?? I took it on-line as well. I LOVE on-line classes.

I am soooo nervous right now. My friend just got her acceptance letter to Baylor Nursing and I am so ready to find out for us!! I bet this board will be hard to get into on the 15th with everyone posting! I do hope everyone keeps us updated. I know I will regardless of the results :o)

My friend just got her acceptance letter to Baylor Nursing and I am so ready to find out for us!!

Congratulation. :balloons:

Do you know anything more about her letter?

What was the GPA req.?

Does she have to buy a lot of things?

I wish we got our letters a week earlier.

Congrats to her! :) That's exciting!

I wish we knew more. Even without the letter, I would like to know the little details, things to buy, colors, types, etc.

Even if I have to wait until Fall, I still could be looking for good deals if I knew the requirements and suggestions of the "accessory" items. lol

L&D4ME: I called UTA today, but the lady won't be back in until Monday.

If I remember, I'll try to call Monday after my chemistry class.

GOOD LUCK!!!!!!! Gosh I remember doing this - waiting with baited breath - 15 years ago!!!!! How EXCITING! and nerve wracking!!!! I will be keeping my fingers crossed for ALL of you!

I did an AD program 91-93. I had planned on going straight back for the BS and then going into a masters program then. Life got in the way. I did the RN-BS program at TWU 2 years ago , and am now finishing up an NP program there. Nursing as been a roller coaster - both fun and frightening!

If you don't get in to one of the DCCCD programs this spring, just remember that there are other openings in the Fall. I know it sounds like a long time - but it's one semester. In the long run it won't matter!

GOOD LUCK!!!

Thanks gauge14v, and good luck with your NP program. That's exciting too! :)

As for your RN-BSN... Did you have to retake any of your sciences, or did they use the fact that you were a working RN and waive the 5 year rule?

I'm so excited. I hope I can do it, whenever I do get in! :uhoh21:
