Anybody thinking about El Centro/ Northlake in the DCCCD for Jan 2006?
They waived the 5 year rule because I had been actively working. The only thing I had to do was take a lifespan growth and development course in lieu of the child development course I had taken years ago.
That's great. I know UTA said they would, if you were working as an RN. Lifespan is one of our required support courses, which I have already taken. :)
I know after this semester, I will have only 4 lower level core classes to take toward my RN-BSN. I will still have to complete 6 hours of upper level classes, but overall 4-6 classes to apply.
If I get accepted for Spring '06, I'm not sure if I will take the lower level courses during the summers, or just wait until after I graduate. I sure would like to only have the 6 upper level credits to complete by the time I graduate with my ADN!
That way, *after passing the NCLEX*, I could work for a while to get 'somewhat' used to being a RN. Then, after let's say a year, take the 6 credits (either 2 classes or 1 - 6 credit class). By that time, I would have at least 1-2 years experience, and be ready to do the RN-BSN (probably part-time). Either way, before I'm 40, I'd like to have a Bachelor's degree. :) After that, who knows!!!
However, I have to get accepted before this roller coaster ride can really get good. :chuckle

I thought that those 6 hours of upper level classes were needed for graduation and not for application at UTA.

You're right, I could apply after I finish the 4 pre-req core classes, but the 6 Jr/Sr level classes doesn't necessarily have to be nursing courses. (even though I do have my eye on one.) It says 60 hours of lower level & 6 hours of upper level must be completed for graduation & the lower level must be complete before any upper level nursing courses could be taken.
I think the RN-BSN program itself is 1 year or 2 years part-time.
I'm not sure what will happen when the time comes. I have to manage to get my ADN & pass the NCLEX. :uhoh21:
8 days.....I'm getting really nervous!!!!!!!!
I am getting so anxious! I'm not in the mood to study Chemistry!
I just wish I'd hurry up and get my letter (and wishing that it is an acceptance letter, of course!) That way, I can stop wondering, and get back into study mode.
All I really want to do is read the Student Nurse thread, skim through my new NCLEX review book, look at nursing stuff on Ebay, and create my "Nursing School Wish List". :roll :roll :roll
If you haven't started already, who's going to be checking the mail as soon as the mailman leaves? Who's going to meet the mailman at the door? Who's going to be checking their mailbox every hour just in case the mailman comes early? HAHAHAHA
Good luck, only 1 week away!
LOL I have been studying Chemistry and Spanish. Had an oral report and have a test in Spanish and have homework for Chemistry to do. Have to answer 55 questions that look like a test. Anyways been doing chemistry all day today. Can't believe it is almost time to find out about the nursing program!!!
Wow, I feel deserted!Where did all y'all DCCCD'ers go?
Ok, I know, I am on here way too much.
