Oh yeah I re-took it and got an A. It was so much easier the second time around! I wish I would have paid more attention the first time and there probably wouldn't have been a problem! Oh well...shoulda...woulda...coulda..right? :o)

Been there, done that! If I had the motivation back in '91 as I do now, I would be a FNP by now! lol That's ok, at least NLC/ECC encourages repeats! I'd be in trouble too, if that was the case.

I'm glad you retook it! I couldn't remember if you had stated that anywhere. (Ever wonder if you'll be a good nurse when you realize your memory really bites? I'll definitely be the one constantly writing reminder notes down. LOL)

I can't believe it's so close!!!!!

Fun2Care I think you have a GREAT chance of getting in!

I hope I have the same luck. 3.77 Pre reqs and 13/17 support courses with a 3.77 on those.

Thanks! I think you have a great chance also! :) I can't wait for us all to find out!

I know if I don't get accepted this time, I will take a one or two more classes toward my BSN, and/or take pharmacology.

That doesn't make sense. How can you be determined (hopefully that's what it was) enough to make a 4.0 on your pre-reqs & make a 2.64 on your support classes??????

I would retake Algebra if I have to, and I'm going to take Music Appreciation starting October 21st, just in case. If I don't need it to replace my B in American Lit to have a 4.0 (hopefully) on my 17 credits of support classes, then it will go towards my humanities credit for my future RN-BSN.

Fun2Care,

I was wondering, if we don't make it for Spring of 06 (I don't really like thinking about this, but....) would you reapply or finish all your core courses and work straight for your BSN? You are close to completing them, whereas I am just getting started. I am contemplating what I should do if faced with this awful choice.

All I lack on the support courses for the ADN is Micro (taking now), so I have 13 hours completed out of 17. I hate to be rejected because I only have 13 support hours. That would mean I have to wait 6 months for 1 course to gain the advantage. It would feel like such a waste of time. I don't know if I should just finish up with my core work towards a BSN and attempt to find an entry level position with a hosipital in the hopes of tuition reimbursement? I will have to quit my full-time job once I begin a nursing program and maybe find part-time work that won't interfere with school.

I have been reading your posts and you have such good advice, what do you think?

NurseSomeday, first of all, thanks for the compliment. I can only give my opinion, it's up to others to make the decision as to what would be best in their situation. I know it does help hearing different opinions, and then molding a plan from that. That's one of the things I love about AllNurses.com! ;)

If I don't get in, then I will continue to take the RN-BSN core classes. I guess if I don't get in for Spring '06, nor Fall '06, then I may try to just go for my BSN. I'd definitely work while completeing the next few BSN core classes. I'm holding out until I hear whether or not I'm accepted. (So, I may be looking for a job come 2 weeks from now!)

If you could afford it, or get funding, then going for your BSN is always a plus. You never know when you will want to expand your nursing skills to management, etc. For myself, it's just what I set out to do straight from high school....I have to get a bachelor's degree, at least....just for my own peace of mind.

Also, many of the classes for the ADN are needed for the BSN. That is one of the reasons I am almost finished with the core classes. Your Micro won't be in haste. You'll need it for your BSN should you decide to go that route.

If you do or don't get accepted, then you could try getting a job in a hospital. Either way, you could take a classes toward your BSN. Knowledge is never a waste. So, even if you do get accepted & get your ADN, but decide down the road that you don't want to get your BSN, you'll only be that much the wiser! :)

(Sorry if this doesn't make sense. There's just so much that can be said about ADN vs. BSN, but everyone has to choose what fits their lifestyle. ;)

Good luck with your decision, but I'm sure you'll get in though! :)

Fun2Care, Thanks for your input! I definately plan on doing BSN regardless of how I get there. I love school and, once in the field, I will be deciding which route to go for my Masters degree. I am just impatient and want to get going on the actual nursing program. Also, because of financial constraints, I need to work as long as possible. So the ADN to BSN route makes the most sense for me. (If I'm not rejected).

Thanks again! It won't be long until we know and can actually begin making some decisions.

I can't wait!!!! Good luck - 11 more days!

yw...even though I really don't think I helped much. lol

Instead of "not counting the chickens before they hatch", I guess it needs to be, "lets not count the dead chickens before they die"! lol

We are definitely still in the running for Spring '06, all the way up until Spring '06 starts! If we don't get in, then we can decide on what to do. :)

Hey, I was just going through the past posts to see when I started the countdown & found this.

I know I've already answered it, but I wanted to post a link that I found.

It's a GPA calculator! LOL
