Day sleepers..........

How are you darkening your room to sleep during the day? I found some blackout drapes at JCPenny.com but it'll be around $155 for the drapes and valance. I'll spend it, but i'd rather find a better deal! :rotfl: I put curtains up in my room, and they are WOEFULLY inadequate. Short of painting my window black (just kiddin! :chuckle ) any suggestions??

I bought two sets of heavy suede-like drapes at Big Lots for like $10 a piece, they are heavy enough in addition to my blinds that it is almost black in my room. Then I just close the door to my master bath and it is sleepy time. I do suggest the eye mask if you can stand it- I couldn't handle feeling like I was blind-folded, so I had to resort to the heavy drapes.

I wear an eyemask. Cheap, comfy and DARK!. I also have dark drapes in my room which helps when I wake up to use the bathroom or to get a drink. Thus, no blinding white light.

Eye-mask works for me too - so no changes to the house, home or bedroom!

amen to the eye mask, and also door shut, big noisy fan on. I had garbage bags over the windows when I first started nocs, but they kept falling down...

happy Monday!

I use a regular blind and reinforce with dark drapes, cheap!

Keeping the bedroom cool is most important to me, I have an air conditioner and it's loud enough that nothing disturbs me.

My hubby works 3rd shift. Luckily, our bedroom window faces our backyard, so we have dark green room darkening mini blinds. They work great, but what really helps is the fact that we went from a white/yellow color theme in our bedroom to a dark burgundy/navy/forest green theme and I bought dark navy blue curtains. He just closes the blinds and pulls the curtains and it makes it really dark in our room.

Before we had the darker colors, he had sheets of thick black plastic that he would attach to the curtains with clothespins. That's what my dad used to do to. Now that made it PITCH DARK in the room no matter what color the curtains were! Not sure where you could get the plastic from. It was very thick though.

I fall asleep driving, standing up, on the toilet, so a bit of California sunshine from my wide open window doesn't bother me. :chuckle

I also use dark sheets to cover my window and it works great. What doesn't work though is the neigbors who decided to replace their vinyl siding last week and now have moved on to the roof. AHHH! How annoying!!

I bought a big sheet of that stiff foam (you see it used in ceilings sometimes for tile) cut it to fit my window and slide it in. That, then close my miniblinds, and it works great. Good luck! :icon_roll

I bought black-out fabric and covered my window. Cost $8. Works far better than tinfoil, sheets, etc - I wish I would have thought of it years ago.

Where do you get that? I had foil going on but the HOA got onto me. :rotfl: lol
