Hi guys, I am from outside USA who went thru the process of CGFNS NY to take NCLEX-RN. If you have questions about CGFNS new york, ask me and I'll try my best to answer.

Cos I have seen a topic about this and it has so many threads to a point that it is confusing.

I did call NYSED and asked about it. There is no limit for retake, however I think you must allow 45days gap before you can apply for the next NCLEX according to Pearson Vue.  

I spent time on self content review by using Saunders Comprehensive Review, it explains things in detailed but simple way, very helpful for me on content review and practice questions come after each chapter. I also used Nurse Plus question bank, this is another affordable question bank with good rationales and the level is quite close to the NCLEX-RN. The must have for me was the UWorld, the practice questions level was more difficult than the NCLEX RN questions, but the very good quality questions and rationales helped me to remember important contents and prepared me better for NCLEX.

 Everyone uses different materials and you should chose those really work on you. Good luck!

I did the TOOTRN review with nurse Jannah then do a daily dose of UWorld.

The Mark Klimek audios in Youtube are very helpful as well.

I've applied to NY with CGFNS in August.

All my documents have arrived (according to tracking numbers)
But CGFNS hasn't changed the doucments status yet- They arrived months ago (I'm just finding out now, I was being patient, perhaps too patient!)
I've contacted them today to see where they are - hoping they are physically there, but just not yet processed. Waiting and seeing.


I started the application in August - first documents arrived in Sept, final documents arrived early Dec.

How is everyone else going?
I've seen transfer of registration due to COVID seems easier in some states,  who aren't even requiring a transfer, you just work on the license you have (Idaho have this scheme)

Hello,

I had applied for NY RN,

I already did CGFNS and applied to NYBON.

After waiting for 3-4 months, BON emailed me back by saying they did not receive any documents from nursing school.

I replied to them by saying, we sent documents to CGFNS and they already verified. But BON said we need to send them documents from the school of Nursing separately. After that only they will proceed further.

It was not mentioned about the separate documents for BON during application but after a long wait, I got such an email.

Did this happen to anyone? Is there any option other than sending documents again?

Please assist me in this regards

Quick update!

I sat the NCLEX in December 2020 for NYS, I failed but answered the full 140 questions (Covid limit to reduce time spent in exam room) so it suggested that I was just on the border of pass/fail. The questions weren't hard so much as ambiguous - I always felt that there were two "Correctish" answers, which I suppose is the joy of multiple choice. Frustrating and disappointing as I thought I could start the new year working back on the wards - but I'll pull my socks up and try again. I have already received my second ATT and can sit the exam after valentines day.

So, I believe usually after 2-3 months CGFNS will send "whatever they have" to NYS for the CVS. I would check with CGFNS to see that they received all the correct documents and that they were able to verify it before they sent the documents to NYS. Also, I would confirm that the details were all correct. I didn't have to send anything directly in to NYS apart from the educational requirements on mandatory reporting etc.

If NYSED is asking for something, I guess I would just give that to them! Haha, even if its out of the ordinary. If it helps move your application along just get right on it. I know its frustrating - but the whole process is so time consuming and annoying that its often better to just get on with it rather than dragging your feet! Good luck!

Hello, I started my Aplication with CGFNS for CVS in august and the process went smooth. I just recived an email that my CVS report is going to NYSED and I have meet all the program requirements, but I have never applied at NYSED , I don’t know if I have to apply. Also for the infection classes and child abuse classes I don’t know if they are gonna be recognized as part of my studies plan or I have  to take them. If I have to take them online , do I have to take classes firstly and then apply for NYSED . What should I do??? 
P.s :permanent resident , applied here in US.

I applied for CVS back in October 2019. I applied to CGFNS and NYSED at the same time as licensure application and payment to NYSED were required for the licensure processing, means NYSED will only process your documents submission if you paid for the licensure application. I graduated from Japan nursing program, child abuse and infection were included in nursing education. However, in US, RN are required to take course for infection control every 4years and child abuse recognition course just once. This was what I knew when I applied for my nursing licensure. I did both courses online, and the company sent me a completion certificate. I was able to upload them to the NYSED my online profile. An applicant must take the courses with companies which are listed on the NYSED website to be recognized as a legit one. And an applicant must upload the completion certificate on the online profile or mail it to the NYSED. 

It is year 2021 now, so I am not sure if the terms and condition changed. My advice is to contact or visit NYSED website for information, and start the licensure application process and take mandatory courses or submitted other required documents.

 

My experience was I started applying to CGFNS and NYSED at the same time, and that was how I know they required the completion certificate of those two courses. Then I purchased and completed the courses, uploaded them to my NYSED application online profile, before I was able to proceed to the next section of NYSED online form.

Get your application for New York started. You may have to do the courses and they are done online and not that expensive and can be done after you submit your application and before your file is complete

Hi Aida,

Yes, you need to take an exam on infection and child abuse. Then you need to apply for NYSED.

Regarding infection and child abuse exam, you don't need to worry much. you just try to answer all the questions. At last, all answers are displayed, you can note them and you can select the correct answer the second time.

Thanks for the help. I alerady did the two classes  online and got the certificates. Also applied to NYSED. Let’s hope I will get a response  by April-may*2021

I have applied for cvs at cgfns also I have done the payment and everything is OK . I have printed all the requirements and I noticed that my faculty address where I finished my bachelor and master is wrong . I emailed cgfns but I don't know what to do else . They have their forms of contacts for scools over the world or they just see the address that we wrotte . The name of faculty the city and everything is okay but the street number and name no 

pleaase respond I need your help
