CVS - NEW YORK - CGFNS 2019

Published

Hi guys, I am from outside USA who went thru the process of CGFNS NY to take NCLEX-RN. If you have questions about CGFNS new york, ask me and I'll try my best to answer.

Cos I have seen a topic about this and it has so many threads to a point that it is confusing.

Hi,

Do you remember which online course you applied for and completed your courses with?

I used this site:
https://www.accesscontinuingeducation.com/index.cfm

Because it clearly stated that you can download your certificate immediately once completed.

It is listed on the huge list of approved providers to complete these training courses - There were cheaper options by a few dollars but I liked that it had immediate grading and download of the certificate so I could submit straight away. Also its just something like 20 Multiple choice questions at the end of some reading material, which is nice.

Here is where you can find the lists: http://www.op.nysed.gov/training/

Me again LOL- I am completing the CGFNS NY CVS. I am a bit confused when it gets to the section asking about speciality education and ongoing education?

I have done my post grad in anaesthetics and recovery and have included that in my qualification parts- do I just put that information there again?

If I say no- I don't have any speciality education it then prompts and says to explain why I don't have any continued speciality education?

@gigi894

It was easy as long as you study the courses thoroughly, and there are tests after each small topics and the test at the end of the course. I remember the tests are not difficult. And it is online courses, I was able to get the certificates sent to my email, printed out and mailed to NYSED.

How long did it take for the education review by comparative education ? They have received my documents two months ago and they are not done yet with the review, I have been told that they are experiencing significant backlog due to covid. Still ,I feel frustrating as this whole process takes so long.

@Seau Yin Chong mine took about 3 months and then I waited for my att for about 2 weeks after.

Hi! Don't be frustrated. I waited 4 months til I got my ATT. Patience is the key. In the meantime, start reviewing for the exam. Read Saunders first. Good luck!

Thank you so much for the details.

I have been doing question banks while I am waiting. Just want to know if my education is eligible for the NCLEX or not , since I am spending money to purchase those question banks. LOL

All the best to whatever you are doing now too!

Sorry, it's me again LOL

May I know where did you graduate (country)?

Are you a fresh graduate nursing student? Or you have working experience ? And are you currently working as a nurse ?

I graduated in Japan and worked as nurse for 3 years. Then, I left nursing for almost 4 years until now.

Just want to analyse if new York state requires certain people to take a nursing refresher course before granting eligibility for NCLEX.

@Montelukast

So you did not have nursing experience until you sat for NCLEX? And New York state did not request you to take a refresher course right ?

Are you currently working in New York state ?
