CVS - NEW YORK - CGFNS 2019

Published

Hi guys, I am from outside USA who went thru the process of CGFNS NY to take NCLEX-RN. If you have questions about CGFNS new york, ask me and I'll try my best to answer.

Cos I have seen a topic about this and it has so many threads to a point that it is confusing.

Hi!

I did but I haven't sent them my transcripts. They had eventually verified my education after 9 months. I don't know how they did it, they may have called my school to verify. They sent me an email the next day that they had sent my report to NYSED. I called them and asked how they verified it since I didn't send my transcripts to them and they told me to ask NYSED. I had already sent my transcripts and license verification to NYSED 2 months earlier so I decided not to send another set of documents to CGFNS. I contacted NYSED last week and they told me that they are now reviewing my documents and it may take longer. So I basically paid for CGFNS but didn't use their service. Hope this helps

Hi

Thank you for the information.

Good luck for the review.

CVS for NY requires CGFNS to contact your nursing school and obtain any relevant paperwork

Hi!

I think they did this process on 2017 or 2018 but they recently changed it to make the process faster. Before you had to wait for CGFNS to contact your school and they'll send the transcript to CGFNS. I think a lot of people had complained that it took so long for CGFNS to contact the school, that's why it gets delayed. But now, you have to fill out the forms CGFNS provided in their website then print it and send it to your nursing school or license office. The school and the license office will send all your papers along with the forms to CGFNS, then you'll have to wait for them to verify it (they will contact the school and office), and then they'll send a report to NYSED once it's verified. They will also email you if you need to pass any additional documents or if they've already sent their report.

Hi

How do I know if my theory hours and clinical hours meet the NYSED requirements? Does NYSED evaluate it or Comp Ed?

@natsuhomes1 or someone who knows about this

Does anyone know if NYBON will require foreign educated nurses to take refresher courses and who are those that need to take the courses?

Hi,

I'm still waiting for Comp Ed to finish reviewing my documents so it may take awhile now especially because of the quarantine. I'll let you know if I have received any response from them.

@PediaNurse I am in the same boat as you. I just received a response from ny bon saying that my files have been sent to COMPED. Comped is either going to take longer or speed up reviewing our documents due to the COVID19.

@PediaNurse @Montelukast

How is the review process going? I think my report was just sent to NYSED. Wondering if they would speed up or take longer due to COVID-19. Would like to know how is your experience with the review process?

The review process is going great. I've been mainly using Uworld as my only source for studying. What study materials have you been using? I believe that they are speeding up the process. Each time they update the nysed nursing homepage it shows what applications they are reviewing. The last update I believe was on April 27th. The next time their homepage will update will be on May 11th. So basically every two weeks.

@Montelukast how long does it take NYBON to update you that they received your documents after CGFNS sent it out? and how long has NYBON been taking to review your report? I guess only after NYBON notify you that they receive your documents, you are able to view the progress on the website? I am only using Uworld too at the moment.

@Seau Yin Chong I waited about 4-5 weeks before I submitted a form questioning the status of my application. I did not use CGFNS. I had everything sent directly to NYSED for them to review my transcript. Submitted everything late Feb. My guess is that when they update in a week or so. That's when they would be finished reviewing all my documents. "fingers crossed" How do you like Uworld?

@Montelukast I see, it does not sound a long waiting if they are gonna finish reviewing in less than 3 months. I used CGFNS which already took 6 months, which makes this process long LOL

I am almost done with the questions bank of Uworld, and I feel like I am exposed to similar questions and need more exposure maybe. Might consider to apply for other questions bank if it will still take months for the review, but not sure what else is good now.

Hello! I am currently doing a DIY (endorsement for me from NMI to NY) and my for my husband (NCLEX-RN for NY). I am struggling a little bit with the process but I am taking it one step at a time. I have 2 questions so far:

1. CGFNS requests we make contact with NYSED to verify if we indeed should choose CVS. Do we wait for CGFNS to respond before we can proceed? The next button to click says 'yes, I've made contact with NYSED' or something to that effect.

2. Do we need to write down all our healthcare-related work experiences? Do they get in touch with current and previous employers?

Thank you so much for your help.

@NPL

For me , I did below :

1) call NYSED to ask all the questions I have before start application

the first staff talked to me was unsure about many things, so I called the second time that a staff managed to answer my questions. If you have questions, exp The working experience etc, it is better to ask NYSED. I emailed too but no response, so I think making a call works better.

I had work experience and filled out accordingly . So I'm not sure with those who has no working experience.

2) apply for CVS and NYSED Registered Nurse at the same time. When I applied to NYSED RN in Nov2019, they require CGFNS ID. So I have to pay CGFNS to get an ID and fill out NYSED form. Also, New York requires an applicant to complete courses of infection control and Child Abuse. They provided a list on NYSED website about foreigner nurses application, you can apply to those companies and chose one to complete it online and get the certificates mailed (follow the company's instructions) to NYSED. I remember there is a time frame to complete and submit the NYSED application, so make sure you also complete the courses and fill out all necessary questions on NYSED form before the payment deadline.

3) I graduated from Japan. CGFNS did not help to collect any documents for me. Instead , the instructions were that I have to collect the license and educational transcript and make my school mail all of them directly to CGFNS (follow instructions of CGFNS)

CGFNS is still verifying the documents of mine . So that is all I know .

From my experience, the best way to do this is to ask NYSED any questions you need to know the answer.

Apply for CGFNS and NYSED licensure at the same time and go through both forms.

if you need to make international call, there is something called Skype with low rate. I used that to call my school when I need help.

Hi,

Do you remember which online course you applied for and completed your courses with?
