Hello, I just thought to start a thread, for support and information for the future nursing students from Connecticut area. As we all know, it's hard to get in to the program. so let's try to work together with new advisements, precautions, suggestions and support. Does anyone is ready to apply this coming spring? has anyone has taken the TEAS test? :nuke:
I took the exam on saturday and I checked the following week on the ATIT website and the scores were up. Do you know the stats on acceptance rates, etc.? I've been accepted to other schools but BHSN is my top choice, so I'm hoping we'll find out soon if we are accepted so I can wait to put a deposit down elsewhere....frustration setting in!
Sandy, pm me who you had a Clovis for psych... I am in the second semester at kaynor, going to st marys for clinical and learning to insert ngtube with feedings after checking for placement. Ugh lol this is tube week, we are to try to do at least 10 insertions of either foleys, ngtubes, gtube or trach suctioning.... so pray for me I have only done them on manikans...

Old Message, so you may have gotten a reply on this already.
I'm currently in week 7 of the UConn MbEIN program out of the Waterbury campus. There were open spaces not filled in our class. We have 21 students currently, and capacity was 30. I don't know if they didn't have enough applicants or enough qualified applicants, but whatever the case - if you have your pre-reqs done with a B or better, I assume they would take you.
You can access their pre-reqs and all other available information @ this website:

I'm very happy with the program so far. It's very quick, very intense. I wouldn't recommend it if you don't feel very well prepared, or are an insanely hard worker who absorbs information quickly and has the time to read every assigned chapter and memorize loads of info.
This program provides a certificate in Nursing, and allows you to sit for the NCLEX. In addition, you earn 9 credits towards a MSN, and have a guaranteed spot in their NP program so long as you maintain a 3.0 GPA throughout the course of the program. Apparently, they've never had anyone NOT meet that requirement. They ask you to work for a year before returning to start the MSN/NP portion of things, if you so choose.
As far as other schools and Master's degrees, I am interested in Nurse Anesthesia, and CCSU will take UConn's accelerated RN path in conjunction with a Bachelors in the another discipline so long as you meet their pre-req requirements. It seems like a school-by-school kind of thing, but in reading about other programs, most seem to state that an ADN + a BS/BA will suffice for entry into a MSN program.
Hope that helps.
They say May 1st. But here is my theory. They will be sending notification much sooner than that because registration for returning students begins April 1st and wouldn't accepted student need to know so they can register?? Maybe a silly theory but I think we will know soon. And summer registration has started. I'm only taking micro in the summer (only co-req left) if I have been accepted somewhere.

Hey Regi!
Making my way through Psych, English 101, and the math. Boy, I got a hard Prof for Psych at Clovis! Whew! I thought it might be easier, but this guy is a tough one! I am going to continue with Math during the summer semester and need to look into Chem. How are you doing in your nursing classes????
