CSULB Spring 2015

Published

Hey everyone,

I want to apply for csulb nursing program for spring 2015 cohort, is there anybody here who is applying for spring also? Do you think spring cohort is easier to get in?

I'm curious as to what the stats were for this semester. I know the cut-off was 9.32 but anyone know how many applicants there were? :bookworm:

I think one of the instructors said around 700 applied and ninety were invited for interviewing.

Oh ya.... I got the acceptance also...lol

Congrats Everyone !!!! SEE YOU SOON !!!

Good luck! If anyone likes fast paced torture style clinical, choose trimester. If you are slower learner and would like to gradually go up in difficulty, choose basic. I'm in trimester... I think it was a mistake. Should have chose basic.

Do you really mean the trimester is that torturous? :(:nailbiting:

What is the difference between trimester and semester program? I was under the impression that everyone took the same classes, just trimester system has summers. So wouldn't only the summer sessions be a bit harder, since summers go at a quicker pace, but regular fall/spring should be the same? limorgolan, just wondering if you can clear this up, thanks!

Got the acceptance letter from the SON as well still waiting for my email from the university even tho now when i check my status online it says offered admission, I talked to ---------------------- about that yesterday and she said the people in the post-bac department can take a while to send out the emails lol Congrats to everyone!!!

I was also told to choose basic. If we chose trimester, we would have two fast paced summers! ?

Does anyone have their csulb student email yet? Was wondering what you guys thought about creating a Facebook group for the Spring nursing class?

Trimester clinicals are much faster pace. In the semester program, they are still doing 1 patient, whereas in the trimester program you do care plans for 2 patients after the first week of clinicals.

There's 40 spots for trimester and only 30 spots for semester right? I have a feeling there's going to be a raffle at orientation :nailbiting:.

Who here wants to be in the trimester program?

Specializes in SRNA, ICU and Emergency Mursing.

From what I see, Trimester will be harder for sure... they cram a full loaded schedule of 12 units--16 (or so)weeks of information for each class --into 10.... and that has to make a considerable difference....

You have a heavier patient care from the start....And... you really have no time to decompress between semesters...

in addition, financial aid does not cover summer semesters. That will mean 2 semesters of out-of-pocket tuition payments... or loans... (for those of us that have to pay our own way... ouch...)

There are a lot of things to consider for both decisions... like limorgolan said... if you like fast paced torture clinicals....lol.. choose Trimester... although he is thriving like a boss...lol, he seems to be second guessing his decision.....

I suppose...if anyone is planning on getting into competitive masters programs, they should also consider which program would possibly benefit their GPA the most... or what would be a more reasonable pace to pull as many A's as possible....
