CSULB Spring 2015

Published

Hey everyone,

I want to apply for csulb nursing program for spring 2015 cohort, is there anybody here who is applying for spring also? Do you think spring cohort is easier to get in?

Check Craigslist. I found one really close to campus and very nice.

What apartment complex? If you don't mind me asking.

Also, I didn't realize you were on this forum (Isn't you message on the fall 2014 one) limorgolan- mind emailing me? I wanted to ask you a couple questions [email protected]

It's actually in a house. I have my own room but the house is shared among 7 of us females. I follow this forum to give advice to you guys.

Thanks :) I just need to find a roommate!

limorgolan, just wondering, do the students register for classes ourselves or is our schedules assigned to us by the department?

Your class times and schedule will be assigned to you. You will register for those specific classes at the time of your student orientation through the school.

She told me it was Dec 13th at the interview

I heard that as well but since there seems to be some discrepancy in all of our info does someone want to call to clarify?

I just e-mailed her so i'll definitely post any info I receive but I feel like if I call after I just e-mailed she'll want to kill me.

Limorglan, I know I asked you before, but I forgot....lol

How many days per week are you in class/clinicals. And are they full days or a few hours?

Um my schedule consists of n200 lecture Tuesday 0930-1200, Wednesday I have pharm, patho and nutrition 0900-2100 (with breaks). Thursday is pre planning, 1200-midnight respectively, and Friday is clinicals from 0630-1630.

Thank you .. now... What is pre planning? And is it really 12 hours long?

(MODERATOR EDIT OF NAME - PLEASE DO NOT POST NAMES PER TERMS OF SERVICE) responded to my email- orientation is Dec 13 for sure. See you all there!

Pre-planning or care planning is when you go into the hospital a day before your clinical time, choose 1 or 2 patients (census), and gather information about the patient's condition (using the computer system EPIC). Then you have to fill out info about the pathophysiology of the disease, the recent lab results and why they are abnormal, last known vitals, nursing diagnoses (you will learn this in lecture) and many more things. Once you get into it, you will see it is time consuming and is basically pertinent for you to be able to take care of the patient on clinical day. The first time it will take you all night, the second time around it may take you less time to do so (if you're still doing 1).

I am also looking for roommates to cut back on the costs! we should maybe start a facebook group to help keep us all in contact wth each other :)
