Hey everyone,
I want to apply for csulb nursing program for spring 2015 cohort, is there anybody here who is applying for spring also? Do you think spring cohort is easier to get in?
Does anyone know if we already took a nutrition course before applying to long beach, do we get credit for that class or do we still have to take it? Same for pharmacology?
You may get nutrition credit through the program, but you still have to take 3 capstones (2 are included in the program, the 3rd you have to take whenever). I know of at least 2 people who took nutrition already who are in the nutrition class because of the capstone requirement. It is an easy class. I would recommend taking pharm while in the program, it is very informative and will help you out in clinicals so much. Plus the professor is great!
I know im looking into the trimester if it still is that they help pay your tuition in return for working for millers childrens/memorial for two years after it would be a big financial burden taken off for me as a second degree seeker who only has all loans to pay for the program
Is this guaranteed though? Because I think cal grants don't cover the summer semester so that's why some people are choosing semester? Oh and sent you a message btw

NOTHING is guaranteed!!! Especially when it comes to post-grad employment… Many students get offers, but a considerable percentage of them are not so lucky…
And, maybe someone else can chime in, but I have never--personally--heard of having your student loans paid-off by a future employer… That would be awesome, but I definitely would not count on it…
Expect to pay for this thing, or get many loan$ (I have so many already, I just don't care anymore…lol)
I do believe some military and prison systems might have loan pay-off programs like this…. (but, no thanks)

The Trimester thing is they offer 70% of the students a contract with Long Beach Memorial/ Miller's Children hospital for two years. I don't know the details, but ask about it in Orientation. It is not guaranteed to get the offer, so you are taking a chance after all. This is going to be a tough ride, do not expect to get A's and B's in the program. These classes are NOT easy.
Limorgolan,
I really want to believe you that Nutrition is a capstone, and I'll take it again if it is… However, I researched these courses last year as well, and I didn't see it.
There would be no difference between cohorts, as your capstone choices are the same as mine (as long as they are offered during the semester). If Nutrition counted for your capstone, it will count for anyone…
I am now, again, looking at the Fall 2014 Capstone Courses, and not one is a Nutrition course. I also looked up the courses by name and saw many Nutrition courses, although none are includes as GE area: F (capstone) eligible.
Can you please tell me the course number/name? Or the section number?
* Here Are All Nutrition Courses (None count as GE area: F):
* Here are all the Capstone courses from every Capstone group (there are no Nutrition courses):
That is from "GE Area: E, Lifelong Learning and Self-Development".
According to the school catalouge, that is definitely not an approved course… But I will call and find out tomorrow… honestly though, I have been misguided by "counselors" before, and I see it happen all the time with other students; did you get any confirmation--other than the person in the SOAR meeting?
That's why I took Philosophy 6 thinking I could bypass English 102… the school counselor really screwed me there… That upset me cause I could have just taken Eng 102, and skipped Philosophy 6 all-together.
Anyway… that is not listed as a category F course--or a cross-over…. I don't see why they would tell you that course counts as Capstone….
Here are the 'GE Area: E' courses. You can see NUTR 339 is not listed anywhere else.
It is also a 1-unit course, which does explain why it is so easy, but still not capstone… (Capstone course that is only worth 1-Unit ?)
