Actually with basic you go to different hospitals each semester at csulb. Last year they were at long beach community and this semester they are at a different hospital. You change every semester. I would suggest csulb, but idk much about uci. Good luck!

what do you mean the point, you mean the time frame? I think it was around mid march. I got initially accepted to CSULB, placed on the waiting list for CSULA. I then got a call a couple of days later from the nursing program at CSULA saying I was accepted. I think that at that point I was pretty set on CSULB.

I did the opposite. I got accepted to both CSULA and CSULB. I live kinda far from both, about 38 miles from csula and 48 miles from csulb, but the 10 freeway is packed so the commute is basically the same all the time. I went to both campuses and CSULA looks and feels like a prison. The environment at CSULB is much more relaxed and friendly. Also, another reason is when I got accepted to CSULA they were changing from quarters to semesters, and didn't know how that was going to affect the nursing schedule. Quick question, did the CSULB nursing department (Ms. Ward) email you with a location of the orientation? I have the date and time, but not the location. See you June 12th.

Well, we had to do more careplans at a time, and the schedule is more scrunched together. But according to one of the professors on campus, th. Trimester professors didn't abide by the Syllabus and made it faster and more intense. the way you learned the material was bunched up together instead of spaced out to kinda ease you into the program. But if you're able to handle high intensity, go for it. Don't get me wrong, the basic program isn't exactly easy either, but its spaced out more. Plus, last fall was the first time they did the 5 semester set up, so I guess it could be different. Also, you will be in your 3rd semester in summer, which is known to be the most intense. 3rd semester is when you do the icu rotations. Idk, maybe it was just too fast and intense for me, but I thought I would save someone else the hardship I had to go through!

Just so you know, trimester is brutal. Clinicals are at one hospital throughout the program (only for trimester). I am a re-entry 1st semester student. I originally was in trimester but now I will be in the semester program. Not trying to scare you, but trimester is more difficult and intense than the basic one. As I said before, I know some people who had scores lower then the cutoff who are currently enrolled. So don't worry about it

That is before the communication exercise. They add 2 points to your score after.

Last year's cut off was 9.63 overall score. If you have something above that, that's perfect. Don't give up hope if you're below, you may be an alternate and there is a good chance you'll be in. Good luck!

I'm in the CSULB basic program. CSULA were in the midst of changing their program from quarters to semesters and they didn't know how it is going to affect the workload and stuff. I'm struggling at the moment due to personal issues, but I will finish this program.

Yes, the SON will assign you the classes. You will have to wait until after nursing orientation to get your schedule.

Haha, All I know is what I heard at orientation and that it does count as a capstone. I just want to survive first semester, let alone think about 5 and 6. Sorry, I am struggling to keep up with the program at the moment, so there is a lot on my mind. I wish you luck my friend, go get em!

It is nutrition 339, nutrition for the nursing professional. This is a capstone (I asked at SOAR)

The Trimester thing is they offer 70% of the students a contract with Long Beach Memorial/ Miller's Children hospital for two years. I don't know the details, but ask about it in Orientation. It is not guaranteed to get the offer, so you are taking a chance after all. This is going to be a tough ride, do not expect to get A's and B's in the program. These classes are NOT easy.
