CSULB Nursing Fall 2021

Nursing Students School Programs

Published

Hi everyone! As CSU applications open up, I wanted to start a thread for all of my fellow pre-nursing students looking to transfer to CSULB!

Hi friends! I was wondering if anyone knew if CSULB was planning on accepting a smaller pool of applicants this round? I know a few colleges are planning to because of how unsure placements are with COVID, but I don't think I've heard anything about LB.

My scores are:

TEAS: 92

TEAS reading: 97.9

GPA: 4/2 = 2

Science GPA = 4

so I have 9.798 points rounded to 9.8? I would usually be confident but with everything going on now I'm not so sure! I honestly thought my scores would be enough but for some other colleges, I barely meet the mark ?

Also, does anyone know if we have to be CPR certified? I remember seeing something about it on their website so I'm wondering if I should take a certification course now.

No, I don’t think so. Also what colleges are u referring too that where those stats are barely?  u have one of the highest among this thread.Your stats are more than barely tbh. You really did great ??

I actually don't make the mark for even Sac State's waitlist ? It's because I don't have any work/ volunteer experience, nor am I bilingual (enough) so simply my stats are unfortunately not enough /:

Sorry to hear that. I heard it's because Sac State cut their seats into half due to covid from 90 to 40-50 seats. I'm sure you stand a high chance from other CSUs like LB, LA, SJSU, SB, CI.

Hey what colleges are planning on accepting a smaller pool of applicants?

Also, you have excellent stats and I think you have a good shot at getting to LB as they only look at scores.

IDK if you've seen this yet but if you go to the Application - FAQ and go to the last question in that section you will see the applicant pool stats for fall 2020.

Hi! I meant Sac State in particular, because like @greenbince said, they cut their acceptance pool in half last fall and said that they're unsure if they'll be able to go back to admitting 80 students this time around too. Thank you for the hope! I'm glad they only look at scores because I am definitely stressing haha, and no, I haven't seen the FAQ thank you so much for telling me about it! ☺️

ahh gotcha!

Of course :)! I wish you all the best.

@Nat1596 The communication exercise will definitely be on zoom due to COVID.
@luigiisking You do not need to get CPR Certification during CSULB Nursing application process. However, you will need your CPR Certification after you get accepted to CSULB Nursing and most likely other nursing schools as well. It does not hurt to start early!

Has anyone received an invitation to the communication exercise? The wait is killing me!!

I think it's still to early...probably end of February?

The waiting period is really the worst. I'm so nervous since this is the first fall cohort after we fully did online. (Fall 2020, finished their prereqs December 2019). I'm really curious how this pandemic affected the point cut-off.

How many of you plan to work if accepted? Per diem, part time, full time?
