CSULB Nursing Fall 2021

Nursing Students School Programs

Published

Hi everyone! As CSU applications open up, I wanted to start a thread for all of my fellow pre-nursing students looking to transfer to CSULB!

Hi All,

First off, congrats on those that got into the second phase of the process and to those who didn't, I wish you luck in the future!

I wanted to ask you all if you had any ideas of what kind of questions they would be asking during the Communication Exercise? I heard the Spring 2021 cohort were asked interview style and wanted an idea of what questions they'd ask?

Also, how is everyone calculating their total points? And out of how many total is it?

Thanks ?

No idea about the communication questions, but the formula for points is (TEAS reading x 0.02) + (TEAS overall x 0.02) + (GE GPA/2) + (Science GPA). I believe it's out of 10.

Are you sure they're still using this formula? Is it possible it's different?

possibly...its weird how earlier someone with a 9.9 didn't get an invite!

Honestly, based on the stats I saw here, I wasn’t expecting an invite. I’m wondering if a good reading score has more weight than we thought.

Besides GPA, I would assume they still calculate the TEAS criteria score primarily based on the reading and composite score since their website states that they “will accept the scores from the one test date with the highest composite score (composite and reading scores cannot be split from two dates).” If I’m not mistaken, they also raise your GPA by 0.1 if you’re considered “local preference” even when applying to a highly impacted major (although I’m not sure if it’s possible to have a 4.1 when calculating our score).

I applied with a 9.57 (4.0, 4.0, 87.2% reading, 91.3% composite) and it seems to be the lowest mentioned score on this thread that was able to get an invitation. Not quite sure since not everyone has mentioned their score and not every pre-nursing student is on this forum!

Did anyone that's a second degree applicant get an invite?

I haven't. I know it said to allow 1-2 days to receive it, but I'm a paranoid person ?

I didn’t receive it either and I scheduled within the hour we received the email.

I haven't received a confirmation either. I literally scheduled mine within 45 mins of receiving the email. I think they'll send it out tomorrow. Anyone know what to expect? On the website it says there is an oral and written exercise.

oooops I just realized I already responded XD
