CSULB Fall 2015 Applicants-Basic BSN

Published

I am extremely surprised there isn't a thread that exists for students applying to CSU LB for Fall 2015!!

Here are my stats, but enlighten me on one part, what does the general gpa consist of? I actually went to CSULB and met Monalisa, but she said the nursing program only looks at eight classes... Maybe I should call to reassure how they calculate the cummulative GPA, but my other scores are set.

Science GPA: 4.0: 4

TEAS Math: 100 : 2

TEAS Overall: (90.7x2)100:1.814

GE GPA: TBA

So far so good, but being that a 3.0 is the cut off gpa for general and science for the program I am giving myself a 3.0/2= 1.5 as a score and my points would be a 9.314 as a default. Hopefully it will be higher.

Are you planning to call the office this morning?

I am in the same boat as you are, and I am quite worried and curious why I haven't received the invitation to the communication exercise.

Good morning. I am still waiting too. I called this morning, but nobody answered. I will post whatever info I get when I get through.

I am about to call the office, but I am afraid. I will post too if I get some info.

I am also thinking about dropping by if I can't get through!

I think what might be happening is that the people (like me) who received invitations despite low scores (mine was 9.22) are alternates. Someone mentioned earlier than CSULB only accepts alternates that are already CSULB students. I've heard of the alternate list being as long as 20 applicants in years past so that is one possible explanation.

For those people with higher scores who haven't been invited to the interview; do you have courses in progress? It might be that they choose people who have all courses completed over people with in progress courses

I have completed all my courses. And some people with courses in progress got an invite. I keep calling but nobody answers í ½í¸”

Yeah, I have no courses in progress. I guess they favor locals. I just hope they let us know something..

So I was finally able to contact the nursing department. I didn't make the cut-off :(. This semester was insanely competitive, the cut-off was 9.55!!! Most of the alternates are already attending CSULB because the school doesn't allow the department to admit anybody after May 1st. She said that there were like 20 people before me that also didn't meet the cut-off. Hope this answers a few questions. Now I will just wait to hear from CSULA, if I don't get in then I will apply to CSULB in Spring by retaking the TEAS. Good luck to everyone! Congratulations to those who got in!!

Thank you for this information. I guess I didn't get in. Good luck to everybody else.

9.55!? that is completely crazy! I'm scared for my application for fall 2016 now..

So I guess now CSULB's nursing program is so competitive that you absolutely need a 4.0 GPA in everything and a high TEAS test score... I feel bad for many of you guys with really good scores (from 9.4-9.5 range) that are much better than mine.

To those who got an invite, is there anything to bring with to the interview?
