CSULB Fall 2015 Applicants-Basic BSN

Published

I am extremely surprised there isn't a thread that exists for students applying to CSU LB for Fall 2015!!

Here are my stats, but enlighten me on one part, what does the general gpa consist of? I actually went to CSULB and met Monalisa, but she said the nursing program only looks at eight classes... Maybe I should call to reassure how they calculate the cummulative GPA, but my other scores are set.

Science GPA: 4.0: 4

TEAS Math: 100 : 2

TEAS Overall: (90.7x2)100:1.814

GE GPA: TBA

So far so good, but being that a 3.0 is the cut off gpa for general and science for the program I am giving myself a 3.0/2= 1.5 as a score and my points would be a 9.314 as a default. Hopefully it will be higher.

can you please tell us if the communication exercise would affect your application? Thank you in advance

Congratulation to all of you who got accepted. I am so anxious to apply this year. Can anyone please share a little bit about the communication exercise so that I can prepare myself for it. I'm very appreciated.

The communication exercise was a small response to a video and then a teamwork exercise where we had to use communication skills to explain something to our partner.

In all honesty, the communication exercise is not something you should be worried about. If you get invited to it, then your pretty much in the program unless you english skills are very poor. I'm pretty that's the reason why they have us do it. Just to check that we can read, write, and talk in english properly. Don't stress about it too much.

Thank you so much for the reply. I heard that it is pass or fail. Are there many people not accepted by the SON because of the communication?

yeah, i checked my spam folder, my trash folder, my whole gmail... nothing. I thought I scored high enough, but I guess not.

I did find it odd that they sent me two confirmation emails that they received my application and it has been logged in. Did anyone else get two confirmation emails?

If possible, can you ask if there is only going to be one day of communication exercises or will there be more later?

Anyways, good luck!

As a result, did you make it?

Thank you so much for the reply. I heard that it is pass or fail. Are there many people not accepted by the SON because of the communication?

Yes, I'm pretty sure it is pass fail. I have my score total from orientation and my communication exercise score was not even listed. That probably means that you either passed or failed because if it was really important, it would have been factored into my score.

And I have no idea how many people failed due to the communication exercise. I don't think the school would tell us even if I asked. However, from what I remember, all the people whom I did the exercise with were at orientation so I think we all made it.

Thank you in advance for the reply runtohousebeats. Do you know what is the purpose of the communication exercise? what happen if someone is not passed? does that person have to take another additional class? I think you will have the clue since you are at CSULB now.

Hi again.... Like i said. I'm pretty sure the purpose of the exercise is to gauge someone's ability to speak, write and understand english. If you don't pass, i'm guessing you just get rejected. I haven't heard of any form of remediation or extra class someone has to take. Then again, I have not even started at CSULB yet so i could be wrong. If english is your first language then don't stress about this too much. If it's not, then it's probably time to start practicing your conversational skills in a professional environment. Your writing seems good so i'm sure you speaking ability is just as good or better so in your case, i don't feel like you should worry.

Wow, you guys have some really good scores...

Here is my score:

Science GPA: 3.765

Overall GPA: 2

Teas Math (100%): 2

Teas Overall (86.7%): 1.734

Total: 9.499~ 9.50

I'm so worried now after seeing the cutoff was 9.63 last year..

Hi, Can I ask you if you got accepted Fall 2015? I heard that the score to get in in there is very high right now, making me so nervous when preparing to apply this Spring 2016. Thank you in advance.

Fall is ALWAYS more competitive than Spring semester. You don't need a 4.0, I know that for sure! lol. To those who did not get in, don't give up! I got denied in fall and got accepted for spring. Now I'm halfway through the first semester.

For those who did get in! I will see you guys Wednesday! I'll be part of the welcoming committee. Just look for the over-friendly black guy lol.

If you have any questions there, I'll try to answer them as best I can! Good Luck!!!!!

Would you mind if I ask you how many points did you get accepted. Thank you so much for your time.

Hey everyone, I am applying for Fall 2016 and was wondering how long it took long beach to request a supplemental application from you. I am getting worried because I have not received an email yet and on the website, it says they will start sending them out Dec 1, 2015.

Hello~

I am about to start the nursing program at CSULB this fall, and I wanted to ask those of you who are in the program a question! I'm debating whether or not I should take pathophysiology and/or pharmacology this summer before the program because I found an availability at an approved school and just think it would make my 1st semester more "easier." However, I realized that money-wise, I would actually be spending more taking it at a CC during the summer because tuition at CSULB is the same once it's past 7 units. What do you guys think?

For those who did, how difficult was it taking both those courses together with clinicals and all that? Would you recommend taking them before the program begins even though I will be paying slightly more?

Thanks in advance!!
