CSUF ABSN Fall 2021

Published

Hi all!
I just wanted to create this forum for students who are applying to CSUF Fall 2021 for the ABSN program in case we had questions for each other, wanted to share thoughts, stats and to support each other through this journey.

Don’t lose hope ! Cumulative was 3.7  science was 4.0 but IDK I’m still nervous for it. It’s so nerve wrecking that they sent that email though. I wish it was just a yes you got an interview or no you didn’t ?

yeah same!! I was surprised they would tell us a step by step process or whatever I thought they were just gonna send acceptance or rejection letters ?

Got an email this afternoon that says I've cleared all requirements and they are calculating my cumulative GPA. The email scared the bajesus out of me when I saw the vague title. I've maintained 4.0 in prereqs but I'm in physiology currently. Previous bachelor's was 3.6gpa + master's 4.0gpa.

I got an interview invite for Concordia Irvine's ABSN. I've only applied to these 2 programs so far. Not sure what dates CSUF is scheduling interviews for....

Do any of you know how the program calculates cumulative?

I know some programs do every class you have ever taken, and some do the last 60 semester / 90 quarter units.

I went to a CC, then transferred into a 4-year. So my 4-year transcript has my transfer GPA, 4-year GPA, and combined GPA. Then I returned to the same CC to do my prerequisites. So I assume that I should take just my 4-year only GPA (not transfer/combined, otherwise it would be double counting classes) and my current CC GPA.

In shorter words, I have no idea what my cumulative is ?.

Honestly this is why I was glad that they didn't make us calculate it ourselves. My cc GPA is around 3.2. BA is 3.6 + MA 4.0... It SHOULD all add up to the required 3.5 cumulative but I'm still nervous anyways.

Does anyone know how many applicants get to interview?

Hello.. for those with the AP and other situation causing denial, I would suggest emailing them to get a clearer answer. Hoping for the best!

I called yesterday and was sent to voicemail. I then emailed them but they just sent me an automated message saying no one will be in the office till Monday ? thank you!

Hey guys,

I emailed the school and apparently we must send AP scores even if we don't use them because we have the score listed in our transcript.  So sad right now ?.

I'm actually going through a similar issue at the moment, but with their RN-BSN program. I took some AP exams in high school but since I didn't pass any of them I didn't report them on my CSU application. I wonder if I would still need to send in my AP scores or not ?

Ugh I'm a combination of sad, upset, defeated and enraged LOL. I cant believe they would deny students for something so trivial and irrelevant to nursing. In addition to that their wording was misleading/confusing. They used the words send AP scores " if applicable" and "not required" on the application. Do you think there's any way we can appeal this? We have screenshots as evidence of the misleading instructions.
