CSUDH Entry MEPN Program - Fall 2010 Applicants

i've been following a few threads and i love the excitement and anticipation of those waiting for acceptance letters/phone calls to a particular program and the camaraderie that it creates. i would love to get a thread going to show support and updates for those of us who have/are applying to cal state dominguez hills mepn program for fall 2010. i submitted my portfolio and application on november 30th. i was told that i should expect an interview in january. this is the only program i'm applying to. i know some may say that isn't smart, but i've done alot of research and it is the best/only one that meets all of my needs: prereqs, location, program duration, nclex pass rate and cost. being 30 and already having an expensive master's from usc in a field that i have decided to walk away from in order to follow my heart, i know that this program is the one for me. so i'm stepping out on faith and claiming my spot in the fall 2010 cohort. in my workshop, they said that they only expect to accept 35-40 students for fall. would love for others to share their experience with applying to this program and hopefully many of us will start this journey together are csudh in the fall! good luck to everyone!

Had my interview with JE this past Monday and it went pretty well. It was just how you guys described it: scripted questions, some tangent side conversations, and writing sample. I keep on thinking about how I could of answered the questions better but what's done is done. He said that I should hear something back the first week of May so I am going to be on edge for the next couple of weeks.

Actually this forum has really helped me vent. I almost feel like it is a journal but even better cause I am speaking to people who truly understand the process and can give me real feedback. I will keep you guys posted and let you know the outcome whether it be good or bad.

I'm sure everything went great! I am also waiting on a letter...whether good or bad. I interviewed the first week of April and still haven't heard anything...I am guessing I will hear any day now. I actually received a letter from Dominguez this week...my heart started pounding as I was so nervous to open it....It was actually from the financial aid office... :( I was somewhat relieved but I am hoping to hear something back soon. Has anyone else heard anything from the department? I am a little confused if the letter will be from the SON or CSUDH admissions office?? Anyways, I will also let you all know when I do receive a letter! Good luck to all of you who are waiting to hear back as well. Hopefully, we will all meet soon :)

For those of us who have already heard, we initially received only a single page letter (maybe two pages) from CSUDH Office of Admissions. However, we have since also received a small letter from SON as well, so I am not sure if you will receive them as we did.

In addition, someone I know interviewed the first week of April, and JE told her they wouldn't be notifying people until the beginning of May. So don't get discouraged if it takes another couple weeks! Those of us who were informed of our acceptance earlier on are being asked to send in our statements of intent by next week, so they are probably waiting on those before they send out any more acceptance letters.

If it makes people feel better, my friend will be declining CSUDH, so there's at least one opening to fill!

I know the waiting game sucks, but hang in there! And keep us posted...

Hi you guys!

Yea, the interview was mellow as you guys said, thank goodness! It went a lot better than I had initially expected. Luckily I was a lot less nervous than I thought I would be. In retrospect, felt like I could have answered some of the questions more thoroughly, but oh well, too late! haha but yea, JE pretty much told me the same, that we'd hear back by May. Hopefully everything will work out! Thanks for all the input tho! =)

Good luck everyone! For those of us who got in, we have to submit our letter of intent by today. So once they get the first group of those who will be attending and those who declined, then they'll probably send out the second group's letters. Don't be suprised if you hear something within the next week.

Hi all! So I received a letter from admissions today... It said they were pleased to inform me etc!!!! I think this means I'm accepted??? Right? I have not received anything from the SON so before I get too excited, will someone please tell me thus us what you received too! It says academic plan Clinical Nurse Leader. I'm just double checking because they said we had to be accepted into the program and the school.. I'm hoping a victory dance is in my near future! Thanks!!!

Congrats, Rachele!!! That means, you're in!! Yay!!! We all received the same letter from the University first, and just recently received our letters from the SON. I'm guessing you'll probably get the SON letter (and intent form that you will have to complete stating if you will be attending or not) pretty soon! Why they are ass-backwards, I have no clue! But they have to make the recommendation to the University in order for the Unversity to accept you. So yes, you did get into the program! Congrats again!! I'll PM you info on our group page!

Congratulations!!! It is kind of a bummer to not receive more information with the acceptance - I was expecting a whole packet of information like schools did for undergrad stuff, but it's exciting nonetheless. Welcome aboard!!! Kim

Thanks so much!!! I am so excited and relieved! I feels like I have been waiting on that letter forever! Thanks so much for all your encouragement and support throughout the process. It's been so nice to vent to others that understand what I'm going through. I'm excited to hear back from everyone else as well and looking forward to meeting you all,

I am so jealous! I still haven't heard anything, mine's one week after rachele. I wonder if decision is sent in a batch and rejection letter at the begining of may?
