CSUDH Entry MEPN Program - Fall 2010 Applicants

Published

i've been following a few threads and i love the excitement and anticipation of those waiting for acceptance letters/phone calls to a particular program and the camaraderie that it creates. i would love to get a thread going to show support and updates for those of us who have/are applying to cal state dominguez hills mepn program for fall 2010. i submitted my portfolio and application on november 30th. i was told that i should expect an interview in january. this is the only program i'm applying to. i know some may say that isn't smart, but i've done alot of research and it is the best/only one that meets all of my needs: prereqs, location, program duration, nclex pass rate and cost. being 30 and already having an expensive master's from usc in a field that i have decided to walk away from in order to follow my heart, i know that this program is the one for me. so i'm stepping out on faith and claiming my spot in the fall 2010 cohort. in my workshop, they said that they only expect to accept 35-40 students for fall. would love for others to share their experience with applying to this program and hopefully many of us will start this journey together are csudh in the fall! good luck to everyone!

I sent a email to JE he said that an email would be going out soon about orientation for our program . Orientation will be un June for our MEPN program . And you should have heard from financial aid you should call them I got my award and accepted it . And if you look on the son web page there is a MEPN clinical handbook that speaks on uniforms and stuff . All our questions about registration and everything should be answered at the orientation . Hope that helps .

It's too bad you don't get a BA along the way like at Long Beach State.

I had emailed CSUDH with some questions about the program and the guy didn't answer any of my questions, he told me to come to the info session (which is like $50). But I don't have all of my prereqs finished, so I don't see going to the info session where you have to turn in your portfolio a month after and pay for the info session worth it??

I just got a Mon-Fri 9-5 job and still need to finish Physio and Micro (I completed Anatomy at Cypress and Patho online at CSUDH when I was finishing my BA in Psych there). With this new schedule I have no idea how I will finish my prereqs. Plus the classes at CCs fill up SO fast even the short-term classes take forever to get into.

I've been looking around in the forums here and seeing that many people have taken online science prereqs (which have lab included), and they are saying that some colleges take them and some don't. Anyone who applied and was accepted to the CSUDH MEPN program, or graduated from this program, take any of the Anatomy, Physiology or Micro online? If you did, what online school did you take these classes from?

I can't just leave my job right now. I am taking care of myself and no family to support me. I'm working now full-time to save money so I can apply for loans and be able to leave work, or at least change to part-time at another facility when I actually get into a program. I also feel like I can't just put off nursing school longer so if I can take these two last classes online it would save me so much time and stress.

i have been accepted and the workshop really helps because they review your transcripts and tell you if you get your grades are something that they are looking for. You can also ask tons of questions and get a feel if that program is good for you. I say its just like an applicaition fee that some schools have. I thik it will be worth your time and money. But i dont think they take online science classes with on line labs. they want you to have a physical lab time. you can do it i know i worked and took micro on friday nights and saturday mornings. it was rough after working all week but i got through it so you will just have to be up to long nights and it will work out.
