CSUDH Entry MEPN Program - Fall 2010 Applicants

Published

i've been following a few threads and i love the excitement and anticipation of those waiting for acceptance letters/phone calls to a particular program and the camaraderie that it creates. i would love to get a thread going to show support and updates for those of us who have/are applying to cal state dominguez hills mepn program for fall 2010. i submitted my portfolio and application on november 30th. i was told that i should expect an interview in january. this is the only program i'm applying to. i know some may say that isn't smart, but i've done alot of research and it is the best/only one that meets all of my needs: prereqs, location, program duration, nclex pass rate and cost. being 30 and already having an expensive master's from usc in a field that i have decided to walk away from in order to follow my heart, i know that this program is the one for me. so i'm stepping out on faith and claiming my spot in the fall 2010 cohort. in my workshop, they said that they only expect to accept 35-40 students for fall. would love for others to share their experience with applying to this program and hopefully many of us will start this journey together are csudh in the fall! good luck to everyone!

Congrats patiently-waiting!!! Are you accepting your position or are you still waiting to hear back from other schools? Also, do you know what the next step in accepting our spot is? I just got the letter saying that I was accepted but not sure if I have to send in a deposit or sign up via mycsudh or what... any thoughts? Have you taken a CNA course yet? I still have to do this, ugh haha

yes im going to accept the spot , i have also applied to CSUN ABSN program but i have not heard back from them, but DH was my first choice any way so im not worried about them ! lol I also received my official letter in the mail , but i am also confused as to what is going on with accepting our spots or what happens next. looking at previous post from 2010 cohort JE sent them and email about what to do next once all the spots where filled , so maybe they are waiting unitl all the letters are sent out to give more info. Actually i just passed the sate boards this past Friday YAY!!! it was pretty intense. I took the CNA course at El Camino College in Torrance, it was easy material just time consuming and stressful because up until a few weeks ago i was feeling like i was taking that class for no reason because if i didn't get into the program i sure wasn't going to use a CNA certificate. lol Also i kno that the program there was one of the least expensive ones around , but i don't think they offer a summer session of it so you wont be able to go there , that is if yo havn't already got your certificate.

Oh and I am so rude thank you both :)

genzy have you already taken research methods im in that class now and its not so bad.

Akuku Danger hang in there you still have time some people did not find out they where accepted until the last week of May, I think they are based off when you get your interview, i know a girl in my research methods class didn't interview until last week so don't worry.

Patiently-waiting,

I took researh methods at coastline community and i am currenty signed up for a cna course at the red cross for 22 days starting mid may-mid-june. It will be intense and its expensive but its my only choice to be done in time :) let me kno if u get any info on how to secure a spot! Are u taking research at DH? hows it goin? Have u talked to anyone elsr thats gotten in?

the research methods class is going good have about 3 weeks left but so far so good, not very difficult it was just super expensive $750 . And no i havn't heard from any one else, i am reading a few threads on here and some people have applied to multiple programs so maybe they got into another one and said forget about this one, but i read that csulb program is just as late as ours to tell people if they got in. so idk what's up with that. i want to ask the people in my group in the research class but i don't want to make any one sad if they didn't get in

Hi everyone,

I'm thinking of applying to this program as well. The cost is good, location is also good.

I have read on other web sites that in their MEPN programs after the first year, you are awarded a BSN (as well as being able to apply for certificate for public health nurse), then you can take your NCLEX, and then the last 2 years of the program you finish off the MSN course work. I have tried to find out by looking online and even on the CSUDH catalog and SON page if CSUDH does in fact grant a BSN after the first year but I can't find that information any place.

Can anyone who has already been to the info session or who has graduated from this program please tell me if you will get BSN along the way?

Thank you!

No you dont get a bsn, just an msn

patiently-waiting,

Are you getting emails from CSUDH to click "intent to enroll" on my csudh with a May 1st deadline? Do you know if this applies for us, or if they are referring to undergraduate students? I tried looking for the button "intent to enroll" but couldn't find anything. What are your thoughts?

Iwas just thinking the same thing so i called and left a msg for JE . I want to say that's only for undergrads and that they just generate that message to all who get accepted into the University because i also have tried to click on the intent to enroll and nothing happens. Hopefully he calls me back and i will let you know what he says .

Will do , i also wonder if people are still getting interviews or letters of acceptance of is it all over , or are people still waiting. I see other peoples threads about the programs they have applied to and they are busy will all kinds of post but on here is't like no one . wonder if any one else knows about this thread?????

has anyone gotten any further news on how to enroll in the program for those who were accepted?? I haven't even heard anything about financial aid. I got the orientation email but im not sure if that is for MEPN students or csudh undergrads...
