How many here has applied for the Bachelor of Science in Nursing program at CSULA?
I know it is a little bit early to talk about this, but I just submitted all of my grades, TEAS scores (ATI sends them to CSULA SON for you), and notification of health care work experience (dental assistant) from an employer.
It has been a long and anxious wait till April/May for letters of acceptance to come in, so I hope this thread can help everyone who is dealing with the same anxiety and stress that we are all dealing with.
So If anyone would like to share their overall "points" score, or questions regarding pre-reqs TEAS etc. I would be alright to share all of you mine, and answer some questions that I might know.
Thanks and godspeed everyone!
Hi, everyone!I have a quick question . . . I'm applying for fall of 2012 and as I have calculated, I have 23/31 pts.
With all the budget cuts and becoming more competitive, would you say I have a chance of getting in?
Also, my school doesn't do plus or minuses on grades, so for example I receive a B in Anatomy in my transcripts... should I count that as a 3.0 although I know it was a B+, which is higher than a 3.0?
omg I hate that grading system. I got a B+ in Physiology and I mean like, 2 points from an A- but didn't do so great on the final exam (had to get 99% on it so he'd give me an A). Transcript reads a "B" because school does not recognize +/-. Calculate your grades as they are on the transcript. The nursing school you're applying to will only see that grade.

Hey! I am too applying for CSULA for fall 2012
So far I have 3.83 in pre req (my a averages in intro to psych and Phil are pending) 10 pts
Overall 3.24 GPA (haven't factored in cal poly GPA nor current grades for GPA ) 2pts/(maybe) 3 pts
Taking teas in August at a CC. Hoping to try above 90% in each section. Hopefully 10 pts total
That puts me at 22-23 but I have a lot of stuff pending.
I also ave my CNA and am going to try to find a CNA job to give me that extra 3 points for healthcare experience.
So hopefully by application ime I will have 23-26 points. Not to shabby. I have more classes to finish for fall to boost my overall GPA. How hard was the teas guys? Is aiming for minimum 90% in each section unrealistic? It's version V BTW.
I hope I am competitive enough!
Hi, anyone that got accepted to the fall 2011 quarter receive the 2nd batch of information regarding the orientation date, class schedule, and health information?
Hey!
Remember to get all your health stuff done ASAP! When I was taking my CNA class at my current CC, I had to get immunizations, TB test, a physical etc.. and the doctors are soooo slow these days. I made an appointment and didn't get my paperwork back for almost a month! Hopefully your doctor is faster than mine was!
Hi, anyone that got accepted to the fall 2011 quarter receive the 2nd batch of information regarding the orientation date, class schedule, and health information?
Nothing yet! We should be receiving info any day now.
I believe orientation is sept21.
Registration starts sept 1.
Does anyone know about the healthcare requirements?
I don't have health insurance now so I want to be prepared.
Hi everyone. So I received my info. packet in the mail on Monday, Aug. 15. There is A LOT of things we need to get done...so start on them NOW! Here's a general brief of what needs to be done // going to happen for those that are curious or haven't received their packet yet.
Orientation is on September 21, 2011: 9 am - 4 pm. (ONE day before school starts).
-Series of shots: rubella, rubeola, mumps, varicella, hep. B, TB, Tdap (tetorifice), and flu vaccine.
-Get American Heart Assoc. CPR certified.
-Background check
-Purchase testing package
Stuff that's happening on orientation date:
-Show proof of personal insurance and driver license
-Purchasing uniforms and badges (CASH OR CHECK ONLY)
-Mask fitting
There is a form (the green one for those that have received it) that requires a physician's signature verifying that immunizations have been met.
Hope this helps

23 pts is good. I believe that some people this fall got accepted with only 22 points.
but if I were you I would apply other places as well case 23 points might not be competitive this time
