CSU Los Angeles School of Nursing (CSULA Fall 2011)

Published

How many here has applied for the Bachelor of Science in Nursing program at CSULA?

I know it is a little bit early to talk about this, but I just submitted all of my grades, TEAS scores (ATI sends them to CSULA SON for you), and notification of health care work experience (dental assistant) from an employer.

It has been a long and anxious wait till April/May for letters of acceptance to come in, so I hope this thread can help everyone who is dealing with the same anxiety and stress that we are all dealing with.

So If anyone would like to share their overall "points" score, or questions regarding pre-reqs TEAS etc. I would be alright to share all of you mine, and answer some questions that I might know.

Thanks and godspeed everyone!

BeachBedHead,

i'm confused on when to submit the school of nursing app and the university app...it says the School of Nursing application period is Sep 1st-Dec 1st which means it opens up before the university application. Also, if I complete Microbiology and Public speaking this fall does that increase me chances of getting accepted?

I believe, and Mr. Suave can correct me if I am wrong but if they are done they don't increase your chances. But it does count as you overall gpa not your pre req.

You need to apply to the university BEFORE you apply to the SON cause if you look at the application it asks when you applied to the university.

Okay,got it. Thanks!

Does anyone know the length of time working as, say, a CNA (I'm looking for a CNA job just for the summer)?

I mean what do they ask for, for proof? Employment verification or photo ID?

If anyone could describe what they did, that would be awesome!

beachbedhead, you are funny.

You had already asked this question already!

read comment 19 of this thread ;)

Oh duh. Gosh I am having blond moments lol!

So I didnt get in the program and Im just wondering what other options I have? Im planning to switch majors. Anyone knows which majors are pretty close to nursing cus i dont wanna take a bunch of new classes again? What other schools are easier to get into?

if you go to CSULA, the best major to change into is Health Science. 98% of your lower division GE's, and 100% of your Pre req GE's from nursing are transferable.

that was my back up actually. When I was doing Pre-Nursing, I was under Health Science, and all the courses that I took under health science were also pre-reqs into nursing.

I'm a second year, and if I didn't make the program, I would have finished the rest of health science upper division, and get my BS degree in 1 1/2 years.

but with that degree, I would be able to get my masters in health care administration, or apply to the 1 year Accelerated BSN program at Mount St. Mary's.

I hope that helps!

SOooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo

I am bored! (trying to avoid doing micro flashcards)

Hmmm anyone know of any places hiring CNA's? lol

How was orientation?

Hey!!

Any Transfer Students out there?

Does anyone know if we must send both CSU GE Certified transcripts AND Final official transcripts to the SON as well as to University Admissions?

SON is not answering any phone calls.

If you are a transfer, you have to send GE certifies transcripts to admissions as well as the SON. I don't think they have to GE certified to the SON though.

Anywho are you applying for fall 2012 or have ypu applied and been accepted to the fall 2011 class?

Thanks BeachBedHead.

I was accepted for Fall 2011.
