CSU Bakersfield Fall 2015 Nursing

Published

Hi,

I haven't seen a CSU Bakersfield thread anywhere for its Fall 2015 program, so I thought I'd make one for anyone that applied there.

I'm in the process of taking Physiology with lab now (under Prof. Stark). 2nd test coming up this week :arghh:

Anyone hoping to get into CSUB?!

Just got waitlisted ): Still hopeful though. They said that I was within the next 20 applicants. =/

guys it says i didn't make it onto the list what do i do now

it said within 20? dang it i didn't even get that part in my email

I *THINK* (not 100% sure, so don't quote me on this) they're sending one more wave of acceptances after the summer physiology class is over. If you're within the next 20, then that sounds like a good sign (although it's definitely no guarantee of acceptance). Good luck to you!

If you aren't within the next 20, then I'm not sure that's a good sign. Did the letter outright say you were denied? If so, see if there are any classes you can (re)take to raise your GPA. Also, look into retaking the TEAS for a higher score (if you haven't reached the max attempts, because I believe they're putting a limit on the Fall 2016 applicants). Do some community service as well, to earn some extra secondary points. Then you can reapply for Fall 2016. Also, apply to BC as a backup. If you get into BC but not CSUB, then you could always get your ADN and then do the RN-BSN Bridge at CSUB. You still have options open to you, even if you were denied. Don't give up, keep working at it, and dedicate as much time as possible to it! Good luck! :D

@reallynervous, Sounds like you're in a great position. Things change quickly due to extenuating circumstances. IE: applicants get accepted to other schools, etc. Don't lose hope. Each year, people not expecting to get in actually do!! Don't count yourself out. :)

Hi everyone! I'm one of those unlucky summer Physiology students (actually, he's been a great professor and I look forward to him again for patho!)... I haven't emailed our advisor out of fear I didn't qualify.... and I don't want to discourage myself from continuing to hit hard this summer.

Anyway, for the vets in nursing at CSUB I had a couple of questions:

1. How does the ADN-BSN bridge acceptance work? Do most students get in or is it as competitive? I couldn't find that info on the website

2. How does one retake classes they have C's in? I asked our advisor but she quoted the handbook and I didn't feel like it answered my question. I have a C+ in Micro at CSUB and a C in Gen Chem at BC. Since they're C's, if I retake the class for a better grade at the other school, will that transfer count as the "most recent grade"?

So as you can tell, those two C's are what probably killed my chances :( Rest of my grades are A's and a couple B's.

I hope so! I'm currently not a CSUB student (transfer student). Thanks for your comment haha.

For those of you who got accepted, did anyone not live in Bakersfield or already go to CSUB? I'm applying next round and feel like I have NO chance because of the extra 20 pts given...even though I have good grades.

I don't live or attend there and I have really good grades and I got waitlisted lol.

Hi @euisme! I'm currently going into my junior year of the CSUB program. Unfortunately I don't know the answers to either of your questions. I'm not familiar with the bridge program and I have never retaken a class I got a C in. I just wanted to let you know that I had a C in General Chem at BC and I still got in so don't give up hope just yet. :) If you did well on your TEAS it may help to balance it out.

Also, as far as the extra points for living in Bakersfield my class has a lot of people who are from out of town so that also isn't an end all.

Congratulations to the new class of sophomores on joining our CSUB nursing family! I'm excited to meet you guys at the meet and greet on the 5th. :)

Anyone on the waitlist hear back yet? Just wondering if acceptances are still going out. Thank you so much for replying if you do!

Hey guys!

I'm a transfer student, and I got waitlisted. My GPA's were 3.7 and 3.6, and I scored an 89.3% on the TEAS. I have community service, but missing out on those 20 points (residency, current student) is a huge hit... As of last week, I'm 14th on the waitlist :(

Does anyone know how large the acceptance batches are each week?
