Hi everyone! I just applied as well. I am from central california. I really hope I can get in. :)

I'm not sure where they are planning on delivering them to. Last year the ATI books were delivered to the school and handed out in class. The rest of the books I ordered via amazon but they're available on campus too. Your best bet to get the most reliable answers would be to contact the nursing dept office. They're super nice and they will give you the most accurate info. :)

@rrich7 The textbooks handed out in class are just the ATI books. There are more required texts on top of that that are listed in thr syllabus. I don't know if you knew that already, I just didn't want you to be surprised when class started. The first quarter the books are super expensive but you continue to use a lot of those books as references throughout the year.

Hi @euisme! I'm currently going into my junior year of the CSUB program. Unfortunately I don't know the answers to either of your questions. I'm not familiar with the bridge program and I have never retaken a class I got a C in. I just wanted to let you know that I had a C in General Chem at BC and I still got in so don't give up hope just yet. :) If you did well on your TEAS it may help to balance it out. Also, as far as the extra points for living in Bakersfield my class has a lot of people who are from out of town so that also isn't an end all. Congratulations to the new class of sophomores on joining our CSUB nursing family! I'm excited to meet you guys at the meet and greet on the 5th. :)

Basically just that we are conditionally accepted and will receive formal acceptance after we finish the checklist with like medical and background clearances. Then more info about where to find the paperwork we need to do and that we have to formally accept our acceptance by July 8th. So after that date they'll probably start with the alternate list. That's how it was with Fresno anyway. I'm sure something will come soon!

I honestly don't know of any student pages like that. There probably are some but I haven't had a need so I haven't looked in to it. I'm sure if you contact the housing office they might be able to help you. Sorry I can't help more on that front. Craigslist is good. I've found that Trulia is really helpful too.

Overall the Bakersfield area is nice. It's a nice community, although there are some areas that aren't the greatest but you'll find that everywhere. The only downsides to living here are the heat (right now it's 102), the air quality, and there's really not a lot to do here. We really don't have a lot of big attractions but most things like the beach or the mountains are only 1-2 hours away. It's easy to do a day trip just to get out of town if you feel like it. From what I've heard the cost of living is pretty inexpensive compared to other areas in California. I guess that can be said about most of the valley though. I lived in Chico for a couple of years and rent wasn't horrible there either. The area around the CSUB campus is nice and there are at least 3 apartment complexes that I can think of within walking distance to campus. I think the prices at those complexes is somewhere around 1000-1200 for a 2 bedroom? But don't quote me on that. haha CSUB is a good school too. It's not the biggest campus and it's a commuter school but I've found that the professors and advisors are nice and want to help. The nursing program has a good reputation locally as well. So overall I guess my point is that Bakersfield really isn't a bad place to live. The only things I don't like are what I already mentioned about the heat and air quality. I hope that I was able answer some of your questions. :) Tomorrow is (hopefully) the day! I'm so nervous….haha

Yeah, I'm a current student at CSUB. I'm from Bakersfield so I transferred over from the cc to get the extra points. It really would be ideal to hear on the first! Especially since we didn't get tentative rankings like the previous classes did because the advisor is on maternity leave. How about you? Are you from the area or out of town?

We should hear something on the 1st right? This waiting is killing me! One more week though...

I'll share. I've got either 70 or 72 points without the extra (out of the 90) and then 76 or 78 out of the total 105. I'm not completely sure if I've calculated my gpa correctly so it's one of those two numbers. I also applied to Fresno state and was accepted after being an alternate originally. I'm really hoping for CSUB though because I don't want to have to move.
