CRNE 7th october

Published

Hello,

I'm new to this site but am finding it really useful! I'm canadian but did my nursing degree in the UK, and I currently practicing in England. I'm due to sit the CRNE on the 7th October and have read some scary posts on its level of difficulty. I have the study guides and will continue to study for the next 8 weeks until I fly over to toronto to sit it. I'm extremely nervous....anybody got any further pointers for me????

I can't wait for my family to start our life in Canada pending me passing this exam (so no pressure Eh!)......and a new job in toronto would be great!!!!!

Good luck to all of those that are sitting it the same day as me!:nurse:

hello everyone,

i got around 68% on learn online readiness exam. i have no idea if this score is good enough.

any comments?

oh come on breech, you've been posting here long enough to know what i'm going to tell you! have you read faq: the canadian registered nurse examination (crne) ?? here's what it says:

  • what's a passing mark on the crne? the standard passing score ranges from 59-68%. but the standard passing score is determined by the level of difficulty of the exam as established by the crne examination committee. each exam is set by the committee using a pool of thousands of stock questions created by nursing educators across the country. the pool of questions is constantly changing, as is the composition of the exam. no two exams are ever more than superficially similar. the actual mark achieved only matters as it compares to the standard set for that specific exam. results are reported to the candidate as either "pass" or "fail".

that's the best answer you're going to get.

Thanks jan and sorry:redpinkhe

Hi breech, I haven't taken the readiness test yet, probably tomorrow. I congratulate you for your test score. Have you got any experience with Mosby or Lippincott??

My friend lend me the Mosby book. And I have a friend who took the June CRNE and she failed. Based on her experience, mosby was useless because it focuses more on clinical aspect which the is not the content of the real CRNE. I haven't tried the Lipinncott. Too late I think...

S'awright, breech. I couldn't resist. Best wishes on Wednesday. (I'll be involved in my own seriously stressful situation then too, learning how to provide extracorporeal life support, with a monster exam at the end. I'll pray for you if you pray for me!)

Ok jan! I will pray for you then... Best wishes to all of us..

I'm in the same boat with most of you. Except I don't have to fly to the exam- I get to drive ( Michigan --> Ontario):D

I am having a tough time with Mosby's 2nd edition.I am not scoring too well with the practice questions. But as I am reading your posts, I wonder if I should even be focusing on Mosby's? In feel like Mosby's set up verses CNA Prep guide are somewhat contradicting to each other. What I mean is the question setup are very different from each other. I studied the CNA Prep guide, and performed decently with the CRNE Online readiness test. I read the Code of Ethics and still need more reviewing with the competencies. But, I still feel very unprepared for this exam.

I wonder what percentage of drug dosage and calc will be on the CRNE. Anyone ideas?

Thanks and Good Luck to Everyone!

I agree with you (I just finished Mosby's 1000 questions , and I can certainly tell you that some of the questions I answered using a "CNA-ish" approach where "wrong" by the "Mosby-ish" approach, so go figure.

I'm going to give the CNA guide my second and last try now, but came back to the allnurses for a relaxing (?) reading.

I'll have a tough time with the scheduling of the exam: :D I wish it was 3 to 11 pm :D and my dog was allowed to keep me company :D

Focus on the CNA guide this is the closest to the real thing that you can get.

I agree. I encountered about 5 similar questions in Mosby's from the CRNE Prep Guide and I got the wrong answers because Mosby's approach is different.

Petgroomer, how did you do with the LeaRN CRNE Readiness Test?

Good luck to all of us. 3 more days to go.

The crne is designed to assess entry level competencies, if you find yourself, as an experienced nurse, reading into the question or adding additional information that is not in the question, try to stop yourself from doing this and just focus on the question.

Remind yourself that you are an educated professional who has a strong base in nursing knowledge and that you know how to apply your knowledge to provide safe, competent and ethical care.

Reassure yourself that because of all your preparation, you will understand what is being asked in the question and will recognize the best answer. Remember you have the knowledge to pass the exam!

petgroomer, sheng31, mykami, breech, soetpeel, sonamona, thistle23, rna/dawn, vicnet777 and any other iens writing the crne oct 7, I wish you all success not only in the exam but in your future careers as nurses in Canada.

kindest regards
