CRNE 7th october

Published

Hello,

I'm new to this site but am finding it really useful! I'm canadian but did my nursing degree in the UK, and I currently practicing in England. I'm due to sit the CRNE on the 7th October and have read some scary posts on its level of difficulty. I have the study guides and will continue to study for the next 8 weeks until I fly over to toronto to sit it. I'm extremely nervous....anybody got any further pointers for me????

I can't wait for my family to start our life in Canada pending me passing this exam (so no pressure Eh!)......and a new job in toronto would be great!!!!!

Good luck to all of those that are sitting it the same day as me!:nurse:

Hi Jan,

It is pretty difficult to obtain the Canadian nursing preps in the Philippines. I visited there in August and only found testings for NCLEX & the Philippine Nursing Exam. I suggest e-bay if they ship internationally -- I saw the Lippincott one for sale. The CRNE prep guide provided by CNA can only be bought through their website http://bookstore.cna-aiic.ca/c267877p16717188.2.html although I am not sure if they will ship internationally, maybe you can try the readiness test as well. Hope this helps!

I found the October exam extremely tricky. I feel like I didn't prepare for the exam correctly and thought I had fully understood the psychosocial concept and concentrated of medical surgical and maternity. Surprisingly, I didn't realize how much I was lacking with community nursing knowledge. I am definitely anxious and almost scared to receive my test results. I start work in the beginning of November and I think I'm one of the very few hoping collecting the results take as long as it needs and maybe even longer... just so I can elongate my time at work and not have my temporary license revoked! I really don't feel confident that I passed and feel more doubtful as each day passes, no matter how much I try to think positively. I'm still looking over my notes until now and doing my CRNE tests... :specs:

Anyway, I still have a glimmer of hope and I do wish that everyone in this thread the best of luck in passing! It's only a matter of time now... :coollook:

how many percentage of psychosocial does the exam contain and how many percentage of med surg?

The exam is different every time it's written so there's no way to accurately answer that. They do use very ambiguous language in the questions which makes it hard to study for without the proper study tools, which is why so many people are recommending the CRNE prep guide from CNA. They will ship to the Philippines but the cost is prohibitive. Have you asked around in your community to see if there is anyone who has one you could buy or borrow?

only very few people owned that crne prep guide, and mostly they say that they have hard time looking for it in the bookshop or even in ebay/amazon. I saw some laser copy, but i do not want to have it since i want the original, so that i can bring it in canada and no copyright infringement case.:D

Then I guess you will have to obtain the book from CNA and pay the money. There are a number of posts here that refer to the CRNE Prep Guide from the Canadian Nurses' Association (CNA). Try a keyword search, read them and make your decision. However, you are not to solicit the sale or purchase of this item here on the public forum.

THe CNA website had an issue with their pricing, if it still says the prohibitive amount you should email them & they will organise to ship it at true cost.

However, having said that, some of the universities also ship that book (as do some bookshops) so it's worth checking that out too. When I did my CRNE I got my book from a uni in Ontario because of the shipping issue that CNA had. It was only after I'd already got my book that the the CNA contacted me to say that they would ship at cost. I'm surprised after a year that they still haven't sorted out their webshop!!!

aahh, sorry, i didn't mean that this thread would make big issues in this solicit thing. Anyway, good luck to those who took the exam, ajah...and to my friend too.:yeah:

Today is november 2. I did some reading on the October CRNE last year and they started receiving results on November 9 in Saskatchewan. People from other provinces received their results at a later date. A few more days and everything will be alright! I hope we all receive a positive result. Goodluck to all of us...

Hope I have passed the test. Anyone got the results already?

I'm so nervous.

And on a top of it I had to move to Edmonton, where there is not a single RN JOB:(((((((((((((((((((((((((((((((

GOOD LUCK TO ALL OF US.

yes, you're right! there is no RN job in Edmonton! I live here and I was about to leave this province but I found a job 2 weeks ago and now I have been waiting for 2 weeks now to get the permit to work. I still have to wait maybe 2 more weeks to get the permit because the college is very busy! I wonder how the manager is willing to wait for me?! At least I hope I pass the exam!

I read that last year somebody from Edmonton got the result on Oct 13.:coollook:

I am actually shocked by what you guys are saying...for the past several months all I've been hearing is that Alberta is booming and there are tons of job opportunities over there...I was actually considering moving there. What is actually going on?
