Published

hey does anyone have any suggestions on how to cram for the nclex pn??? i have been out of school for about 4 1/2 months and finally just got my att. i did very well in school but i feel like im going to fail this test... for some reason with all the holidays and personal problems, i havent had the chance to sit down and study the way i wanted too... im taking my test in one week and i need some advice!!! please someone help me... i have been using some testing website that my school had setup accounts with (eriworld.com) and im doing good with those test but im not to sure if it is anything like the nclex itself... im open to all advice... so someone please help

:D thanks.....

I actually just took my test (nclex-pn) last friday. I studied but not as much as i wanted to due to the holidays also. The test was not extremely difficult like i expected but then again i havent gotten my results yet, i somehow feel good about it. I have 3 weeks before i get my results so hang in there and just make sure you know your pharm and eliminate definite incorrect answers. I think you will be fine you still have 1 more week, just look over the stuff you feel weaker in. Good Luck.

Thanks I appreciate the advice... Pharm is my most weak subject because we never really focused on it!!! I hope I will be able to swing the whole thing just to pass... In school i passed every test with an A+ so i hope that helps me out... Thanks again:yeah:

You can't really succeed in "cramming" for the NCLEX. At this point, you have completed and passed your nursing program and you have learned what you need to know. Brush up on facts and take a few practice tests. But if you cram, it won't really help you. You should have learned what you need to know while you were in school.

Wow if you had all A+'s then i think you will be fine, i went to Concorde in Garden Grove and im very fortunate they pounded pharm into us, honestly i thought the PNA test we took in school was harder than the nclex q's, PNA is through the ERI in cause you didnt know you probably did though. Anyway yeah i think you'll be fine. Have faith.

Yeah someone else told me cramming is bad and what you learn is all you need to know... Also i score in the excellent area of the eri testing... Hope that pays off. I went to school in south gate!!!! I didnt go to the best school but i had some great instuctors who really cared and taught me alot!!! Well thanks for the advice and i will brush up for sure... Thanks again

The way you were probably strongly dissuaded by professors from cramming for exams in the nursing program itself, the same should go for NCLEX, I believe. It is really impossible for many to gauge how well you would do on the exam because for one, we don't know how much you put into studying for the exam prior to this and also, NCLEX is individualized...not many people get the same sequence of questions. In addition, anyone telling you of a format to gather together within a week would probably stress you out even further.

Of course, you can't put off the exam forever, but if you really feel that you didn't give it the attention it deserves, you can opt to reschedule and create a study plan to include as much as you can within the time frame.

For what it is worth, most people pass the first time. I wish you luck.

This is not necessary true..that is why editorial companies came up with bunch of review book for NCLEX...for the sole purpose of "reviewing or refreshing your memory of the forgotten material"Do you seriously remember all the things you learn since the beginning of nursing school? I know I dont and it is completely expected...plus nursing school teaches you 50% of material you need to know for the NCLEX,the other 50 is in your supplemental books like Saunders,Kaplan etc....that is why nursing school highly recommend to enroll in NCLEX review course.

To the OP dont be discouraged and just do plenty of questions from Saunders,Kaplan,NCLEX 3500 and you should be fine...thanks.

What worked for me was lots and lots of NCLEX questions. I bought one of the 5000 question books, and also had a PDA program so I could do a few questions at odd moments like waiting for a haircut, etc.

Good luck, and try to relax. :chuckle

Just know your stuff and think before u answer ... You'll be okay..Good Luck..

OP, please take heed of the posters' comments that have actually taken and passed the NCLEX.

If you scored well in NS and have good critical thinking skills then a brief REVIEW of infection control, prioritizing care, delegation, etc will serve you well for NCLEX.

CRAMMING is a horrible idea!!
