Do you have to wait 3 weeks, or can you go on pla.gov and do a license search. Or is that just for the state of Indiana?

My advice on the NCLEX PN/RN/whatever is basically always this: Brush up on everything, focus on weak points and then remember when you sit down to think of each question as though you were explaining your reasoning to your patient.

Best of luck!!

OP, please take heed of the posters' comments that have actually taken and passed the NCLEX.

If you scored well in NS and have good critical thinking skills then a brief REVIEW of infection control, prioritizing care, delegation, etc will serve you well for NCLEX.

CRAMMING is a horrible idea!!

But you failed to realize that the OP is in the position that she/she obviously doesnt feel adequately prepared for the NCLEX and seek advice how to improve her chances to pass the test...if this was not the case I'm sure she wouldnt bother to seek for advice...thousand of people before me and you have done just what I describe above...which is did a lot of questions...obviously it is to late for the OP to go back to their first semester, duhhhhhh.

If you dont feel ready, reschedule the exam.

To semi-quote Deflocked: "once again, lovehospital, you're elevated the discussion to near-mythic proportions."

I do indeed know that the op doesn't feel prepared and is asking how to improve her chances. My POINT is that she should take the advice (overwhelmingly AGAINST cramming, may I add) of posters that have already taken and passed the NCLEX therefore giving them more creedance than posters that simply don't know what they're talking about having never tackled NCLEX. The OP has a WEEK to prepare for NCLEX....she's best served by a review of topics I mentioned vs CRAMMING as you suggested.

Btw, "duhhhhhh" is immature at best.

If you could just practice questions for the NCLEX as opposed to "CRAMMING", you would probably be better off. Cramming for any test is a good way to fail it. When I took my NCLEX, I practiced as many questions as I could each day up until the day before my test. I did about 50 questions a day. I passed my NCLEX. This was the technique many of my friends used while waiting to take the NCLEX.

thanks to everyones advice... i really know cramming is horiable and im not intending on cramming. its just a figure of speech because im a little nervous and i only have one week to brush up on lots of stuff. im just stressing because im not to sure what is gonna be thrown at me from the bank of 5,000 questions... and i know alot and even if i think i forgot it will come back to me!!! once again thanks!!!! :wink2:

I *knew* I had the CDC guidelines for isolation saved...it was just a question of *where* :D

I did not study at all after school was over. I passed the first time. Thats why I'm a big advocate in the fact that you either know it, and you know how to take the test, or you don't.

Totally agree with ya.. Thanks again...

I wouldn't cram. Use the Saunders PN book and take the quizzes and exams. I have been doing this everyday since 12/5/08. I am still waiting for my ATT. I am so ready to take the test and get on with my final semesters of the RN program. I want to take it, and start reviewing for the NCLEX-RN again...You have time to take 100 questions twice a day. That gives you time to focus on areas of weakness and hammer on the concepts. I hope you do well.

HEY JUST WANT TO TELL EVERYONE I TOOK MY NCLEX... THERE WAS ALOT OF STUFF I NEVER HEARD OF ON IT BUT I JUST TRIED MY HARDEST. OWELL WHATS GONNA E WILL BE. NOW I HAVE TO WAIT THAT LONG 4 WEEKS... UGH THATS A LONG MINUTE. THANKS FOR ALL THE ADVICE. BY THE WAY I STARTED WITH 5 HOURS ON THE CLOCK AND I WENT TO 135 QUESTIONS AND THEY KICKED ME OFF. DAMN AND I STILL HAD 3 HOURS AND 45 MINUTED LEFT ON THE CLOCK. THANKS AGAIN AND WHEN I GET MY RESULTS I WLL LET YA ALL KNOW :yeah:
