COVID-19: NCLEX Changed!!

Published

Have you guys seen the new update for the NCLEX exam?

What are your thoughts?

I see it a lot harder to prove that you’re competent. I don’t want to be a downer but doesn’t that mean with less questions you’ll need a greater percentage of correct questions to satisfy the competency level?

But again 4 hrs for a max of 130 questions is quite a lot of time to prove competency. Also

I also feel like they changed the standards. They just won’t straight out say that cause people gonna be going cray cray. We bout to see everybody with a license soon. But I pray it’s for the best.

Goodness. It almost 2 minutes per question, and as minimum only 60 of them.

C'mon, you're given SAME exam on EASIER conditions.

Facts!

NCSBN website has a lot of study resources in the candidate section. Advantage there is the study materials were created by the people that write and administer the test. Second advantage is they are free.

It's been years since I took the test and never used any other study resources but I have heard decent reviews about Kaplan

Oh thank you I never knew there were resources on the NCSBN website.

In addition, because there are fewer total questions, you're less likely to experience test fatigue (compared to somebody who got the max number of questions under the old conditions).

You’re so right. I think the change is for the best.

I actually was one of the lucky ones to tale my NCLEX a few days ago. Overall, the level of anxiety is high. When it cuts off at 60, I was stunned and shaking.

They took out the 15 experiment questions for next gen NCLEX.

Did you pass? How was it overall?

I find out "unofficially" tomorrow but the Pearson Vue trick worked for me! Overall, it was not too bad.

Khan Academy also has practice NCLEX questions. I can't comment on how much they help as I haven't even started nursing school, but it's something else to have in the tool belt

and FREE!

They should be making the NCLEX harder, not easier.

It sounds like this is just for social distancing due to COVID-19

The NCLEX difficulty doesnt change. Just the amount if questions and time allotted.

Then for that reason, it should be fine. I thought this was a permanent change. Glad to hear it is just due to the recent outbreak.

In Washington State they have suspended testing altogether. They are supposed to announce what the plans are April 16th. Unfortunately, I fell into that group ? No testing for me.
