Hi all,
Just wanted to know if any of your facilities are giving Covid bonuses? Or, anything else in the way of a bonus?
Thanks !

I work at a 140 bed residential ( the program is supposed to be 90 days but several clients end up here longer sometimes for over a year) psych facility for children and teens. We received a $300 covid bonus in May as long as you worked full time the month prior. And for the last few months we have got a 1$/hr covid Dedication bonus for any week you worked full time. Now the few times (3 times for 10-14 days each time) we have had covid positive clients ( 7clients the first time, 2 clients the next time and 4 clients currently) one nurse each shift who takes care of the positive clients ( who are moved to the gym) in addition to their regular unit get double pay for that shift. These bonuses/incentives are the same for the DCP ( direct care professionals ) as well.

My employer just announced a COVID bonus to be paid in March. I'll be curious to see how much it is since it's going to everybody, even employees who've never taken care of a COVID patient. I think those of use who were coerced to work the COVID units should get a substantial bonus, but that's not going to happen.

Yes. We paid out a Hero bonus of $200 per paycheck if FT. This was March until June. Now, with cases at an all time high and working with positive patients We are paying $7-10 more per hour.

The hospitals are already paying premium for travel nurses to fill shifts so I don't understand why actual staff nurses wouldn't be compensated better...I am not sure what would make me feel like it was worth it to go to a specific staffed unit. However my nursing school wife is an ICU nurse who is making bank travelling to affected areas.

Meanwhile in Canada.....
The Ontario government introduced wage suppression legislation, Bill 124, just before the pandemic, effectively capping pay for nurses and restricting our bargaining rights that we have as unionized workers. Nurses are retiring and leaving the profession entirely in our province and it is time for change. The shortages are evident in the barebones staffing across the province in hospitals. Signing these petitions will signal to our government that this change needs to happen NOW.
Please support and show solidarity....

If you are out of province/country, you can put our leader Doug Ford's riding postal code to get his attention ? -- it is M9V 1A3
