Yes, although it stays in the car/home while at work.

Yes, it is always on me no matter where I am.

No, I do not see the need.

With the current news over gun control and gun rights legislation being pushed through Congress as a result of the tragedies of Aurora, CO, Newtown, CT and the others like them, the thought of concealed carry among healthcare workers has got my attention peaked. Recently, another Allnurses member started a thread (up to 22 pages presently) about what nurses can do as a result of these horrific events.

This post is not meant to reflect my personal stance on this issue, although I can inform that I am not a CCL holder (however interested), nor is it meant to be a bashing session from either side, but I am interested in seeing how many individuals have their concealed carry license, and if they carry while they are at work (and, yes I am well aware of the legal stance healthcare facilities take as being gun free zones)?

I, also, am aware of some of our members being both nurses and current/former law enforcement officers, so what is your take on this issue?

All joking aside, you have not been watching the riots. Everybody should train and carry. You are negligent if you don't.

Most of these people are anti-cop (defund the pigs/kill cops is spray painted outside apartment right now) but also anti-gun, hilariously sad twist of irony.

Care to cite your sources?

My personal experience has been that many are NOT anti-cop, just want justice for the clear injustices, oppression, and continued systemic racism that has been prevalent in our country for hundreds of years.

Yeah the chanting outside my window...

Cop brutality is a systemic class issue more than a racial one at its core.

Sorry - am I anti-cop if I think they shouldn't suffocate people on a sidewalk for passing a fake $20, or knock a 75 year old man off balance and cause him to crack his skull open for the crime of trying to talk to them around curfew time? Does that make me anti-cop?

OK then I'm anti-cop. But I carry.

Do you wake up in the morning and serve strawman arguments for breakfast?

All joking aside, America needs to get with the rest of the world. New Zealand finally decided to, and we should follow. Barring certain extreme circumstances no one needs a gun. Period.

Guess neither you nor your family have been victims.Glad for you, stay safe.

Agreed!
As soon as you take away the criminal’s guns, and the cops’s guns, and especially the criminal cop’s guns, you can have mine.

that was easy!

You left out the Rambo wannabes who aren’t half as good shots as they think they are. Still wondering how twice as many bullets flying equals increased safety. But I’m old and rheumaticky, so that’s just me ...

As a long time concealed carry permit holder I agree that perhaps we are not the most accurate when compared to the military or law enforcement. That said, I would rather have a fighting chance to defend my life or my family’s life while I await the average 6-8 or more minute response of police. Where I live it can take 15-20 minutes. Remember there are evil people in the world and they will find a weapon to do you harm. Until the world contains no evil then I will exercise my right to defend myself and my family.

I’ve been at the range at the same time as cops multiple times.. they take a class to get certified, they get so many “free” bullets to practice with every so often. There are tons of hobbyists who are way better shots.

there’s at least a few cops I’ve personally seen where the safest place on earth would be right in front of their gun with them trying to hit you.
