There is allot of discussion on news media bias. I thought I would start a topic dedicated to this. I find the best way to gather information of any topic is to read various sources of different political leanings.
To start the conversation, I'll submitt this news story.
A headline from Fox News and one from MDNSBC. Note the different headlines and contents.

It's not necessary for you to call Fuentes a white supremacist and there's no need for the article to prove that Trump shares in their ideology. You are stuck on that thought which is an element of your bias. Your opinion about what the article tried to do or needed to do was just your bias talking. Yeah, I saw your screen shot. No matter how you can suggest the article "would have been better" this thread is about the bias and that's what you said the article was but it wasn't.
I guess maybe you can't comprehend my comments that don't actually say that only conservatives can be crazy. It must be that you don't understand in spite of my response to your repeated questions... maybe you don't understand. Because you surely wouldn't try to imply that I'm saying something that I've not said... would you? That would be rude, wouldn't it?
Are you telling me that you think that I have a sense of grandiose superiority? That seems "nice" of you. Of course, that's not a very clever way to break the TOS... your feelings about me aren't really topic here... media bias is. It would be great if you could discuss your feelings about bias rather than your feelings about me.
Have you considered that you might be wrong and that the article you made an example of us not the biased piece that you claim it is?
I'm talking about your age because I cannot imagine why someone wouldn't know the term "sniff test" unless they were young and unwilling to look things up before simply claiming ignorance of them. You've done that several times now...
Your post conveys annoyance and frustration. Is that what you intended?
Yes. You have a sense of garadosity for yourself. The topic was derailed long back.
I've asked you several times to quote what you claim I said but you said " I'm not playing that game".
Again, it's your opinion that it is not bias, in my opinion it is. Are you struggling with accepting diverse opinions?
I get annoyed when I have to listen to ridiculous comments about Trump and his member shape. Or the far left Hitler comparison. I find that very disrespectful to the Jewish people and all the other victims of that man. Or the millions of Jewish people who voted for Trump. If we keep talking about feelings, or your presumed feeling of my own. How do you think the Jewish people who voted for Trump feel when people say they literally voted for someone like Hitler?
Perhaps you have a media story you would like to discuss. Please do. It's obvious the one we keep discussing over and over is not bias in your opinion.
heron said:What an idiot. Welcome to my ignore list.
Perfect. I'm sure people are very happy on that list.
Roitrn said:You find comparing Hitler and the Nazi regime to Trump, Ye and Fuentes as a reasonable comparison? Do you think Hitler would take issue with Ye being black?
It's an insult to the men women and children who died at the hand of Hitler and his army.
This is ridiculous. Do you have any comment about the shape of Trump's member as well?
Yes. It's reasonable to compare Trump to other historical authoritarians... especially when they use the same playbook and tools to divide a nation ideologically and convince people of things that aren't true. Hitler used people just like Trump uses people. Yes, Hitler would have issue with a black man seeking political power. Trump isn't that much of a purist and his followers don't mind the inconsistency.
Can you articulate how correctly identifying a neo Nazi and white supremacist in this century somehow insults the victims of earlier Nazis and white supremacists? My bet is that you cannot in any kind of coherent fashion but you are now challenged to do so.
Do you want to talk about Trump's member some more? It's reportedly been seen or experienced by quite a number of women over the years... apparently whether or not they were interested... so maybe you could find some discussion online to appease your desire for more talk of the philandering member. Is Trump's ascension to power in the GOP evidence that the GOP isn't really the party of family values?

In your opinion... you forgot that part.
Yes, you derailed your own thread with an inability to defend your own claims ... what a shame. Had you been able to defend your own opinions and claims you likely wouldn't have tried to make it about defending Trump or white supremacy...
Now you want the thread to be about me instead of about your own inability to defend your claims.
Correct... I'm not playing a game with you. You are able to review these remarks as well as I am. If you don't know what you've said in this thread, that's on you.
Accept diverse opinions? You're kidding right? You think that I'm just having trouble accepting a diverse opinion about what constitutes bias or spin or fallacy in an article? That's a real stretch. Is this more of your own bias talking?
I wonder, how do you think those "millions" of Trump voting Jews felt when Trump accused them of disloyalty? No, I don't think that Jewish Americans are offended by awareness of white supremacy, authoritarian tendencies or the rise of neo-Nazi ideology in the USA.
Nah... I'm happy to discuss your feelings since you are happy to discuss your opinion and sense of my "grandiosity". That's how it works when you stray from the topic because you can't defend your own opinion and can't admit that you might have just been verbalizing your own bias.
As usual you all miss the point and your premise assumes Trump is a white supremist and/or endorses white supremacy. I am guessing bc you listen to the left wing MSM news, which of course you just now admit is left wing after many years of denying it. I am sure everyone here would acknowledge the neo nazis are bad people. The problem is that you assign that title to people you don't agree with politically (just like you also call them idiots just bc you don't agree with them). So I can see how some Jewish people, and others, would be offended by people calling Trump a nazi because they do not believe Trump is a Nazi so therefore it is just a ploy to make political points. Just bc the media has been saying it doesn't mean it is true. Maybe one could actually look at his record instead of simply following the cues from MSM. And IMO if any party is being fascist/totalitarian it is the Democrats but I still wouldn't call them nazis because of the hurt it would cause to innocent people (no matter what political party they belong to).
Back on topic. This is an example of egregious media bias and how people failed to see bias and still ar3 failing to see it. It would seem many people, at least in reference to this story, did not learn about media bias in "highschool" and there was no "sniff testing". As explained by Allsides.
QuoteThe narrative that rioters beat a cop to death on Jan. 6 was born out of premature law enforcement statements and irresponsible media coverage. We at AllSides believe this example speaks to the need for patience and balance in journalism, especially when covering political violence and death.

Hence a worthy discussion.

Yes. I find it particularly offensive to use the death of so many people to mud- sling for your political agenda. Such a blatant disesrpect to the people who were victims of the holocaust. Now being used as pons. This does cause emotion and "feelings" and I take no shame in that.

I want the thread to "be about you"? Well there's proof of your self gradiosity in your own words. What makes you think you are important enough for my secret motive to want to talk about you?
I have several times acknowledged my bias. It's about Trump then the hysterics start. You don't even know if I support him. I have not noticed that you have admitted your own bias though? I don't expect you ever will.
Your analysis , feelings and opinions of me is noted.
Shall we "not play that game"?.
I'm not.

So Trump is only kinda like Hitler? Okay.....
Acknowledging current neo- nazi and supremist does not insult victims of the holocaust. Making false equivalents for political points is insulting.
I never have wanted to talk about his member. That's gross and completely irrelevant. The other member (pun intended) keeps bringing it up. Are you suggesting he raped someone? Please provide the evidence of that.
Right. A man who has sex with several women cannot ever be a family man. Got it. Or if you voted for him and are in the same party you can't be a family man either. What a perfect example of false equivalency and false logic.

My premise doesn't claim Trump is a white supremacist nor have I stated that. My premise is that Trump had dinner with a couple of antisemitic guests at his resort and he was reportedly impressed with the white supremacist neo-Nazi. Why would you blatantly mischaracterize what we all know not to be true?
No I don't assign the label neo-Nazi to people I disagree with politically. That also is evident in the history of these threads. I didn't call anyone an idiot. I've referenced Trump's history that associates him with racism and white supremacists. I didn't call Trump a nazi, I call him a liar.
I don't listen to left wing anything. Are you making crap up or are you calling history left wing?
You should explain how you think a Democrat, someone on the left of the political spectrum is more of a fascist than someone on the right side of the spectrum. Even Wikipedia could have informed you that fascism is far right extremism, although that definition has been presented to you before.
It's crazy that I have to counter made up and imagined claims about my posts. It's as if you assume that we're all blinded by the same animus and bias that caused you to write such an inaccurate rant.

Really, really old news and media bias that was discussed at the time. You want to review this history?
toomuchbaloney said:Really, really old news and media bias that was discussed at the time. You want to review this history?
Once again it's not about the topic of the story, It is how the media presented it.
Evaluating past examples of media bias can help us to decipher media bias to form our own opinion. To have a balanced perspective.
This one has clear blatant bias tactics we can use to identify in more current media.
I also chose it to identify bias media that was learned in "high school". As it clearly shows and example if many people believing the story. So maybe they skipped that day in "high school"
You most certainly do not have to discuss if you do not feel like it.
Or is there a reason this story doesn't rank worth discussing? Bias maybe?
