comfortable clogs for clinicals???

Let me tell you guys if someone hasn't already mentioned them. (Check first to see what is allowed) Go to the Lands End website, they make some wonderful closed back water resistant, yet suede and leather, very comfy shoes. The suede come in many colors and are called "All Weather Mocs".

They even come in white leather now! These are called the "Leather Service Mocs."

Try them with Dr. Scholls (spelling?) gel inserts, pricey - but worth every penny! SG

Thanks enfermera... they are only $30 too!

I am waiting to hear from my advisor whether I am allowed to get some of the Danskos that aren't really clogs (closed back with the more athletic looking heel). If she says no I may try those Land's End ones. :)

OOOPS! Forgot to mention the best part, thanks Mitchsmom! They are only $30! And, FYI, every nurse that I work with (even the ones who wear Dansko's) knows someone who hurt their ankle, etc on the narrow heels. Maybe the athletic heels you mention corrected that?? SG

Wow, those Lands End mocs do look nice. I was actually checking out shoes online yesterday and the "Jasmine" Rockers by Cherokee look very nice and are supposedly very lightweight and comfy for $50-$60.

I have worn the Lands End mocs for years- at another job.

They are great -and cheap too!

I did get a new pair of Danskos - Jocelyn is the style and they have a WIDE rubber heel. A bit different than the regular Dansko Proffesional shoe.

Just in case anyone is interested...........

My school does not allow Clogs either. Strictly prohibitted. Only shoes that completlely cover your feet. That stinks cause I want pretty shoes!! :crying2:

I will be starting clinicals this fall and want to know if anyone has suggestions on some comfortable clogs to wear all day. I was looking at the "KLOGS" brand.

I have a pair of the "KLOGS" brand of shoes and I love them!

I've had Danskos and Birkis too - both are very comfy, but the Klogs are my first choice.

My school does not allow Clogs either. Strictly prohibitted. Only shoes that completlely cover your feet. That stinks cause I want pretty shoes!!

When you get blood (or vomit or pee or ____________) splattered on your feet for the first time, you'll be :) that functional won over pretty and your feet were fully covered. When you have to run to the patient's bedside because he/she's two seconds away from a full gainer fall onto the floor, ditto. There are good reasons for the full shoe.

Can you tell I'm not a fan of clogs for the floor? Guess it became clear to me the day an HIV positive patient fell over the rail onto his face and blood splattered all over me. My shoes were covered.

AMEN! I love open back shoes and rarely wear anything else until it starts snowing outside, but it only takes one messy floor situation to make you appreciate the all the ways you have to cover every possible body surface. :rolleyes:

I wear nothing but Dansko clogs. Open back is usually frowned on in most programs so as many others have pointed out, be sure before you by as any good nursing shoe is an investment. I prefer the clogs and have worn them through two other med programs. Wouldn't go back to any other shoe.

I'm a shoe girl, too. It's going to be okay. We will get through nursing school, feet covered 100% and all. :chuckle I don't know what bothers me more. The limited shoe choices, or having to wear elastic waist scrub pants. I miss my drawstrings!!!
