Hey everyone. I was just wondering who applied to Columbia University's ETP program.
I got an email today telling me to keep logging into the website where I applied to check on the status of my application. Has anyone else got this email? And does anyone know approximately when they begin to post decisions?
I'm nervous as this was my #2 school.
i was accepted for the nurse-midwife/women's health np program! wahoo! i'm suuuuper excited. i also got in at johns hopkins and am awaiting decisions from other schools... does anyone know if there is like a us news & world report or anything that compares the combined bsn/msn programs like the etp at different places?? i don't know really know the differences and don't know how to decide!
i'm in at columbia for psych! yayyy! luckily i was in micro during the whole accepted/error business haha, wow what an error! i seriously can't beleive that happened? did anyone get accepted and then rejected? cuz that would be just down right cruel!!
CONGRATS TO EVERYONE! AHHH this is so exciting!!!!
congrats everyone! i just found this thread today, and see i was definitely not alone in being a total stress case these last few days. i got in for psych.
as a new york city transplant (originally from southern cali) i just wanted to tell you guys not to be too nervous about moving here. i moved here four years ago for school and can't quite seem to leave. :) i didn't know a soul and had absolutely no idea how to get around the city. you learn really fast how to adjust to crazy city life, and it's a helluva lot of fun, so just focus on being excited!
you certainly won't be alone in this endeavor and it seems like the school really tries to help connect people for housing. housing is one thing that's VERY important since there's a multitude of neighborhoods, some good, some bad.
best wishes to you all!
Hey, gang,
I also got the slew of emails today, but luckily missed out on all the bipolar emotions because I was at work the whole time.
Did come home to a lovely (tearful, shaky) acceptance letter though! Congratulations to all!
Assuming I pass my remaining classes, I'll be dual midwifery and women's health with you two, megandan & aspiring.midwife, if you both decide to enroll. I look forward to meeting you! I'm definitely going to Columbia, unless something totally unforeseen happens.
Good luck tomorrow to those who weren't part of this mixed-up day! I'm at the very start of the alphabet, so I'm wondering if maybe that had something to do with it, too? They caught the mistake early?
oh my god, i just realized i have MAJOR problem. The program starts on May 27, but I still have to finish Anatomy and Micro and my classes don't finish until the first week of June. What should I do? Does anyone know of any schools in the LA or surrounding areas that I can still enrol in those classes that will be done before the end of May? Ahhhh I can't let this hold me back from going!
You should try looking here: http://www.son.rochester.edu/son/current-students/courses/alpha-index-page
I notice they have some "Fast Track" online courses that you can complete at your own pace. I think that at this point, online courses are probably your best option. I was going to suggest UCLA Extension (that's where I took all of my prereq's), but winter session started last month and spring session starts too late.
Good luck to you!! You'll figure something out, I'm sure.

I'd talk to my professors about taking the exams early. You're only talking about a week or two different, and I'm sure you could learn the info on your own, pass the exam, and have grades posted officially by the 27th. Or maybe you can take the last week and the exam from a distance? Columbia might be a little flexible about when they receive the official transcript, as long as you're in NY by the right day.

Congrats to all! I got in "again" also. I got the same letter from Oscar about financial aid, though I submitted my FAFSA on time. Columbia is the first school I've been accepted to, but I have 3 more graduate entry programs that I haven't heard from yet. So, we'll see! The possibility of living in NYC makes me both excited and nervous. Also, my husband will need to find a new job, which is somewhat concerning given the current job market. But, as someone said earlier, celebrating tonight and worrying later!
