I just put in my deposit for Columbia and I'm super excited (and REALLY nervous to leave Northwestern :'( )

RedSox and SweetBlyss, I am also an undergrad right now (I'm in my last 5 weeks at Northwestern, though I'll have to go back and graduate in June). I'm nervous about being so young as well, but I'm really excited to have such a great jump on my career!

I didn't think it was possible to be awarded more...BUT there are TONS of nursing scholarships out there (especially if you're a minority in nursing) Good luck!

Ladies and Gents, I have a very important announcement to make: I HAD SUCCESS WITH OSCAR! I just called to fix some crazy FAFSA stuff that was going on and after 20 minutes he was finally able to help me. Granted, I had all of the information and had talked to FAFSA last week....but he actually did something helpful! (and said "feel better" when we hung up since I'm sick as a dog right now) We should all do the hora or have a party or something in celebration!

As far as last year's forum is concerned... It was truly shocking to see how much negativity was allowed to permeate the 2008 group. Personally, I feel blessed to have been given the opportunity to become a nurse, and a highly educated one at that (not to toot my own horn, but if all of us are in at Columbia we must have some intelligence). I also feel very lucky to have been chosen to serve the community. Honestly, before I had been accepted I was having a really hard time because all I wanted to do was help other people. Now I feel like I've been given the opportunity to do that for the rest of my life, and frankly, that is more important to me than where I go. It's truly unfortunate that the former etp student that commented on the 2008 forum seemed so entrenched in his/her own unhappiness that he/she couldn't see how his/her deep debt was still helping so many people. I know it'll be hard academically, financially, and probably at times, emotionally, but I'm so proud to be a part of this cohort with all of you and I hope that throughout our time at Columbia that we'll be able to keep each other's spirits and work ethics high! We're like a team! (sorry if I sap-oed all over the forum but I was feeling very "up" about the whole thing, even after reading last year's forum)

Lao0, I love animals so I'm all for a cat (though not so hot on the whole shedding business) and/or dogs (I might adopt one depending on how things go over the next few months). I know the city quite well, but, having spent less time in the Cloisters area, I know less about it. That said, I'm all about the rest of the city and I will fiercely defend its smell, its trash, and its hot summer subway stations! Like I said, I'll be home after the 3rd week in March to visit my family and check out the rentals in Inwood/Washington Heights and Morningside Heights...if you'd like to talk further (or anyone else for that matter), and don't feel it's appropriate on the forum, feel free to shoot me an e-mail Looking forward to meeting all of you!

Hi all, I made the difficult decision today to attend Columbia next year. I'm super excited to meet all of you and to be back in NY (and I feel really lucky to be given the opportunity to go to Columbia) but I'm very sad to be leaving Chicago, Northwestern, and my wonderful boyfriend behind. Anyway...on to bigger and better things, right!? I probably won't be back in NY (I say back b.c my family is from CT) until May but I'm going to start looking at apartments while I'm home on my spring break in March (I'm 21, female, and definitely not living in university housing...I've actually lived in Columbia housing and the cockroaches and I didn't make friends easily)...SO...with that said, if anyone is interested in going in on an apartment in Inwood/Washington Heights or Morningside Heights let me know so that we can be in contact (I currently live with two other girls in 3 bedroom in Evanston, IL so before we make any promises it would be nice to know how each of us likes to live so that we can enjoy living together) Thanks all!

Hey, So, about that whole disorganization thing....Jose had previously told me that I had to take A&P II to finish my prereqs but after asking him repeatedly why this wasn't listed in my acceptance letter (under...we'll let you in if you finish this stuff) he just said that I had to finish my current coursework (which doesn't include A&P II) I honestly must have asked him 3 times but he kept saying the same thing....should I be worried? Also, Arlene Collado sent me an e-mail saying that there was something wrong with my FAFSA but since I've fixed it and notified her I've heard nothing. Any ideas?

mribera1, I'm super excited (but I'm also waiting to hear from Rush and UIC, so we'll see)! Unfortunately, I won't be at visiting day since I have a previous engagement at Northwestern (where I'm currently an undergraduate). Like I said, I'm currently an undergraduate at Northwestern University in Chicago, though my family lives about 45 minutes from Columbia. Where are you from?/What's your background, etc? GO NNPs!
